Title: Arken Zulus
Post by: Cope1041 on February 24, 2024, 11:14:25 PM
I haven't seen much info on this scope yet on this forum,  I tried the search and didn't find any real results,

I recently got one, and am learning all about it,  Picture quality is great so far,  the night time IR footage I am really impressed with.  once learned the 1 shot zero seams to be pretty good,  (minus my slow reluctance to fully read and comprehend the instructions)

My only complaint so far, and it could be fully user error on my part,  is the ballistic calculator which I seen many people across the pond using very precisely,  I cant even get with in 10 inches from what it shows me.  sighted in at 50 yards dead on every shot,  go out to 80, and its 10 inch's off using the hold over it claims based on all the input,  Wont even read out to a 100 saying it far exceeds the field of view.

Does any one have any persona experience with this scope or have any suggestions,    I am fully sure that all the problems are user based.  but I am trying to not get frustrated.

I have the non LRF model and am liking it more each time I use it. Can wait to unleash it on some nighttime pests…

After watching every single video on you tube, reading re reading and reading the instructions a few more time,  ( not very clear instructions)  and LOTS of trial and error,  I am getting the hang of it.  the scope definitely  has a few quirks you have to get used to.  Ranging targets is one thing,  the actual aim point of the range finder isn't near the x hairs at all,  if target is on the ground no issue,  if target is alone on a branch, can be big issue.

I still haven't got the built -in ballistic calculator to work exactly right just yet.  form 50 to 80yards its about 6 inches off,  and about a foot off at 100.

Other issues so far.  The actual range finder will range the same exact target ~~~10 yards diff based on angle,  my 50 yard target will read any where from 42 to 53 yards depending if im holding near the top or bottom.  ( 3 foot tall target)

Emails to Arken have resulted in 0 response,  5 total emails so far.  Last year when I emailed them on a Sunday, I got an email back that night.  now 2 months and nothing.

The need to constantly focus isnt a big deal, just some thing to get used to.

As for the positive,  the recording of image, and sound to me are amazing.  (have to watch what one says while shooting,  the mic picks up every thing.)  The ability to change reticles I can see being handy, I am still trying to find what works best in all conditions

I really look forward to spring here when the sage rats start showing up,  I have seen 1 active dig so far, and one rock chuck, so far,  the time is near.

Granted if you read all this, take this with a grain of salt, this is just my experience and my own thoughts  while sober,  after a few drinks I might say more or less,   take it as you want

Over all I am still happy I made the purchase.

Does the range finder have angle compensation built in ?

The actual range finder will range the same exact target ~~~10 yards diff based on angle,  my 50 yard target will read any where from 42 to 53 yards depending if im holding near the top or bottom.  ( 3 foot tall target)

it does show degrees of tilt left right up and down,  but at that range that is less than 1 degree.  if the recording would show all the extra info I would take a screen shot of it,  but it does not show all the info on recording,
