Hey Crosman... thanks for the inspiration. ;)
Many are awaiting the arrival of Crosman's new addition to the entry level PCP game, the 3677/3622.
Patience is NOT one of my virtues. :-\ I want what I want and I want it NOW.
I scampered out to the shop early this morning with a plan that circled around my head most of the night like sugar plumbs on Christmas eve.
I pillaged and gathered until I had everything I needed to "snap" my own version of one together.
-
Now you only need to take a hacksaw to the barrel and cut it down so the entire rifle is only 36 inches long ;)!
-
Let's take a closer look and y'all be the judges...
The list of stuff:
Steel breech and a 362 take off .22 barrel.
Magnum Air .22 extended bolt w/o-ring.
3D printed slip on LDC.
2260 tube drilled to pin the valve and 2260 trigger group.
Challenger power adjuster.
Modified Maximus stock.
Random Ruger combo scope.
Sling.

I'll measure it but I know that LDC adds a few inches. The 362 barrel is only 22".
-
Everything was your basic snap together "lego" assembly aside from drilling and pinning the tube for the valve and lopping the schnabel off the Maximus stock.
I found the tip of an old LDC and hammer fitted it into the gauge hole to plug it.
I cut the stock just ahead of the first rib to reveal and give access to the fill fitting. The cap snaps right on like it always did.
I will dress that end up some more today.

I'll have to weigh the gun to confirm but this has to be one of the lightest rifles I own.
Betty Lou's first comment on most of the guns I hand her is about the weight.
She kinda tossed this one up and down in her hands and said "Wow, that don't weigh nothing".
-
So there it is... the 3622B.
Now let me get out there and shoot it some. ;)
-
Luvin’ it 👍
Kinda reminds me of one of my builds 🤔
-
Thanks....
I'll run some chrono numbers after breakfast and a store run.
IIRC this thing has a BStaley o-ring buffer stack in it. I know my other one did and I originally built both at the same time.
But I was just out shooting it and accuracy is quite good. I don't know why it wouldn't be as this setup has always been accurate for me. The 362 barrel don't have many miles on it at all.

41" from butt to tip of the LDC. You'll most likely be about that if you add an LDC to the 3622.

That rifle is very clever. I was just funning with you about cutting the barrel. However, I do believe the new 3622 is 36 inches OAL? And I will forgo the "noise" reducing thing. I was offing a couple of starlings this morning and chose my old Steroid 392 Benji. It is running about 20 to 22 fpe depending how much I pump on it before I loose count. It is not a very loud rifle and I do not expect a 3622 at 16-20 fpe to be especially loud. Mine will replace my Urban as the coffee table rifle, ready at a moment notice to off a HOSP :).
What is the best breech for me to preorder. I want to use a scope I think. Since I cannot see anymore.
That is nice work on the pre-3622!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is cheating!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks... as for breeches, I usually just buy what I can find at the best price. Things to watch for are the rounded or flat dovetail rail and whether or not you want the cross breech dovetail for mounting the rear sight. The other thing to consider is the small front or rear breech screw that is in the pellet loading trough. If the rear screw type is what you need/want, you may need the notched hammer for screw clearance.
-
Looks like I'll want to back that power adjuster off a bit to level the bell out. But I can get a solid 25 shots in the low 500 and 8FPE with the 14.3 CPUM.
Nice 25 yd. plinker.
-
The crown on that new 362 barrel might need some crown work. I'm getting 1" groups at 25yds.
It will be interesting to see how the factory 3622 guns do with these 362 barrels.
When I first got the pair of 362s I went straight for the .177 chopped and crowned barrels with steel breeches so I don't really know how they shot with these barrels.
I think tomorrow morning I will yank that barrel, check the crown and give it a good scrubbing.
-
I think I might also want to modify the stock for a barrel band.
One thing at a time.

was about to make that same suggestion.. ;)
also could just for giggles could try soft bedding with cloth, craft foam, skinny cigar etc... temporarily...
-
Could rat rod style it with a hose clamp and spacer.. ;) or go total jury rig with bubblegum and bailing wire.. ;)
by the way I think the stock from the side looks much improved... more serious...
-
LOL Kirby...
Well, I couldn't just sit in the recliner looking at whatever that movie is Betty Lou has streaming so I headed back out to the shop.
I opened my barrel n tube drawer and found a cut and crowned .22 barrel for a previous adventure. It is 18".
I installed the barrel and the gun is now 37" from tip of the LDC to the end of the butt.
But the best part is that I got my accuracy back and I have a raw uncut barrel for a future project. I'll deal with that crown when the time comes.
I do have a barrel band in the parts bin so maybe tomorrow I'll venture into notching the stock for that. I'll let the location of the ribs dictate the placement of it.
-
Love the smell of Dremel grinding plastic in the morning. ;)
It's way better than a big gulp of coffee going down the wrong pipe... ask me how I know. :o :-[
The jury is still out on whether it was worth it or not... y'all decide.
Barrel band installed... check.

Welp... there we have it. A home made "kit" Crosman 3622.
I believe it has all the features and upgrades that many of us will be doing to the Crosman 3677/3622 when they arrive on the market for purchase.
Pretty sure the new factory guns will have a longer tube that will afford owners with higher power and shot count than this 2260 tube but that's ok by me. This one does exactly what I intended it to do... 25 - 30 yd. plinking. Light weight and very backyard friendly. Accurate and you won't break a sweat filling it with a hand pump.
I must admit, the sling is just bling because it ain't no hunter. It may be better suited for a bipod but I'm a bench and bag shooter.
Paper, paintballs and little green Army men beware. ;)
-
Very cool build!
-
Put that Rare Crosman PCP up for auction on Ebay , New air rifle from the future can be your now . . . LOL
-
Heck yeah... in this "pre order" world a "pre sale" deal should sell quickly. I could probably double the price and triple the shipping cost on Ebay. 8)
