Title: HW95 vs Beeman R9 stocks
Post by: Ike the GSD on January 26, 2024, 10:51:19 PM
Hi guys, I was wondering if the HW stocks have a lower comb than the Beeman stocks, as much as I love my R9 the comb is too high to effectively use the iron sights, also can you buy the walnut HW 95 stock as a separate part?

Thanks fellas

Wes

Hey Ike,
As far as I understand it, both airguns now have identical Minelli stocks. I recently tuned a friends R9 and HW95's and the stocks were the same.
In the future, it Might available  separately.

My 95 Luxus comb is a bit too high for irons as well. It works but I have to get the stock way up in my shoulder. An adjustable butt pad or maybe one of those Tyro CS600 stocks from Custom Stock LTD would work better for you?

Thanks for the replies fellas, I guess I'll just live with it. I love this rifle, tonight I put 5 Super H points in a group the size of my pinky nail at 10 meters.👍

The first generation HW95 Luxus stock comb is the same height. Factory sights are useless. I think the standard stocks are the same from the beginning. And I think the comb might be a little lower on those but I've never shouldered one.

Except for adjustable cheek pieces, stocks are either for scopes of irons.
Either/or not both.
Solution, have one set up for itrons and one set up for a scope. ;)

Not really true. There are many, many airguns with stocks that work with both. Every Diana I've handled is such, as is my 1980's HW80, my LGV etc.

I just wish these companies offered a walnut option for their air rifles, beech to me is so utilitarian and frankly I think it's kind of ugly. an oil finished walnut stock with a proper comb height would be the cherry on top for my R9 🍒 👍 A Winchester XPR comes with a Turkish walnut stock and it costs over $100 less than a HW80 with a beech stock. I checked to see if Boyd's made a walnut stock for an R9 but no cigar.

AoA does carry the HW95N now which is walnut

For my 2018 year HW95L, from AoA, I had to add a leather cheek pad to the stock comb to enable scope alignment for me using a Hawke 44 mm objective with medium rings.  This left a little less than 1/8" clearance for the lens.
