Hear ye... Hear ye!
Come one, come all... Casual Match #5 of 2023/2024 is open for business!!!
The Casual Match is a fun match. Shoot whatever you want at 10M (more or less depending on what you have available), use any position or rest that you prefer. See below for the details.
Rules are the same as for the 50’ Casual Match, except distance is 10M instead of 50’, using the 50’ target of choice. If you are limited to distance, shoot at whatever distance you have available. Classes are PCP Rifle, Jumper (Piston Rifle, spring or gas), Pistol, or Pumper Class. One entry may be made in each class.
Match #5 will run 2 weeks... through Sunday, 2/4/24.
The 50’ rules and targets may be found at:
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114644.0
Please include the following information with your entry:
Call name or real name
PCP, Jumper, Pumper, or Pistol Class

I just threw down the Gauntlet myself... via PM.
Didn't know if the Mod should participate... but screw-it!

It's not a competition... shoot em up, pup. ;)

I see no reason you can participate and join in on the fun.
-
It's a casual match...
We're here to have fun.
The more.... the better. 😉
-
Come on down Scott enjoy the water. It's fine!
-
What would be the difference of you being able to shoot and me being able to shoot? Would it mean that no staff members could shoot?
-
This is my moderated gate Bill... I always shot in the past, but the this year thought I maybe should be a "referee" kinda thing.
::)
My mentor in all this was JimQwerty123 (Sig Line) and I do not recall him shooting in the Match Gates.
I Need to look back in the archives.
But for now... GAME ON! ;D
-
Well, like you said... your gate. Your rules.
-
Oh I did not mean it harsh "Stay in you Lane".
I just thought it may not be "Hoyle" for the Mod to be a participant... ::)
"Fox guarding the Hen-House" kinda thing.
But you all are right.
Showing the target shot is "Proof of the Pudding" regardless of the job title.
-

LOL... I didn't take it that way.. My meaning was "your gate, your rules... play if you want".
Like it was said before, if there is any competition here, it's competing with ourselves.
If it were a competition among players, I would be way under qualified to play.
-
I’m tempted to post my target from today, it’s one of the best I’ve ever shot. I think I might have found my CZ 200s favorite pellet. But rather than jump the gun, I think I might try to get in on this under cover challenge I’m reading whispers of.
-
Hmmm... I guess I could start shooting the match targets daily rather than my usuals then post the best score. I've just been casually shooting a match target or two here and there. Food for thought about how these matches fit in my shooting routines [chuckling]. Been erring on the side of casual.

Avator (Bill)
Pumper
Daisy 880 (metal/metal)

Seated w/front bag and rear off the shoulder

I might have been able to claim a couple more points but I just didn't feel good about them. ;)
-
Nice target avator.
It's hard to stop the wobbleage when it's shoulder held and supported.
My crosshairs look like they're doing the Macarena .

Dang I just got to uploading my target for match 4 today, I was exhausted from shooting it all weekend LOL
-
Thank you Scott for hosting!
I had a lot of fun at the LGR.
Had some printing issues so I shot the .30cal at the 6.35mm targets and the .22cal at the 4.5mm targets.
Call name or real name- 2A Georgia aka Charles

Pellet and caliber HN FTT 14.66 for the Jumper and JSB 15.89s for the Notos (NSA 47.2s for the .30cal)

Score- PCP163 and Jumper 159
Pic or scan of the target shot please!
What I learned. The motorized hanging target system swings during the entire 24 shot salvo..might need to weight my cardboard better.
The 3-9x fixed scope on the jumper has a thicker crosshair and works better for my old eyes (might get moved to the Notos)
The 3-12X40AO CP on the Notos has a very thin crosshair and thinner tiny mil lines (or I just can't see that good) It also draws in less light and appears murkyer to me even though it's the more expensive scope.
The UTG 30mm tube 4-12XAO of course had the best optics and was clearest sight picture (also three times as expensive as the CPs)
The 63mm hammer spring in the Challenger gives 18 shots with same POI on a 2850psi fill and shot better at 24yards as I had to hold 3 dots at 10yards puts a mag in a Quarter sized group at 24 yards which at 85fpe+ is dead squirrels 200 score or not (I scored 158 unofficially).
I expected my Jumper score to be much lower than my PCP score, but apparently the jumper likes H&N FTTs.
Surprise the jumper scored the only Xs (2) and several 9s. No surprise the jumper also had the wildest fliers (hold sensitivity, yup).
Learned a lot and had 2.5hours of fun at the LGR as once again everybody was looking at me with my buzz box and Suppressed SBR (Notos)
-
Yes, sir Charles. That's a great way to spend 2.5 hrs.
Nice job.

I have a goal to work towards. I'll be trying to get my 163 up to 180 next match sir ...game on :-) all in sporting fun!
Of course I traded my lego pumper for Notos Money like a shameless crack addict so it wouldn't count anyway...lol

Thanks Ron, I let time get away from me and I shot this late. I have been trying to work out the issues I have with my Daisy 753, but no joy. My eyes are just too far gone to use the diopter site. So the game plan is next turn in I'm gonna do my darndest to shoot with the 753, but it will have a scope on it. It'll be interesting how that works out. Take care Ron and thank you for your nice comments. Shoot well, my friend!
Charlie.
-
Eric, excellent target my friend! I tried using my 753 and I just can't get past my eyes are too bad so I'm gonna have to ramp up to the scope. We'll see how that goes.
John - you burned it up! It's not gonna be long buddy until you're gonna be shooting 200/20X target!
-
Pretty cool having this many participants shooting. Good to see.
I get a kick out of observing what rifle and sighting system everybody is using. Very interesting. I do love the shooting sports.
Take care and enjoy. See you in two weeks!

Nice target, James. Good shootin'.
What position did you shoot from?
I like the back lighting for showing the holes. :)
Ron

Yeah, the backlighting is a nice tough.
Good shootin'. The Notos is coming along.

Special day for anyone, congrats again. Hoping to come join if it will quit raining every weekend.

I might have to shoot this match standing, I took on a repair job and have a C9 on my bench I use for shooting, and need to clear the odds and ends from one of my work benches to have the best place to do a total rebuild on this one anyway :)
Still I should work on my standing posture, have to remind them muscles what they are there for ;)
-
A-hem.
Just don't post your result on this thread... it's over.
;)
