Title: unprofessional bb rifle competition
Post by: desertplinker on January 20, 2024, 04:57:38 PM
I finally was able to get on target with a new batch of bb rifles. Because I can, and have 75 year old eyes, every rifle sports a scope except the 499.

And the fact that the 499 was not scoped might explain why it didn't make first place. The four rifles are 499, RR, 840, and 35 not in that order. Shot the 35 with two pumps, and SURPRISE!!! The 35 was the big winner. I expect the 499 would win most times, and blame my eyes. The target was 25 feet and rested shots.

Now, try some Avanti BBs.
They measure .175”
Others are smaller.

Thanks for posting!  Curious how a 25 would compare.  I took out a bunch of hosps when I was a kid with one.

That's some fine shooting with a bb.

I have a new 25 but the front site is off and I have not got to setting it up yet. Coming soon.

I expected the 840 would come out the winner, great shooting Steve!

I had decided on a 25, but a "competing thread" leaned me toward using up my CO2 cartridges on something that shouldn't leak ... ordered a XC60CS instead.

I still do have some bb's sitting around though   ;D

Update:  Got a new shot tube from Daisy for the 499, and now the 499 is the clear winner.

Short range solo bb competition between different guns Is fun. I wonder if the 499 has a special diameter barrel or what? Did I miss what bbs you used?

Was using the Daisy silver premium in the Red container but now have found a Daisy Match grade bb in a blue container that is a bit more accurate in the 499.

That satisfying "Tink" sound when the bb slides down the shot tube and connects with the magnet, takes longer with the blue container bbs which suggests that the blue might be a bit larger in diameter.
