Title: Shipping my Hatsan Invader back to the factory expensive or refusal to ship
Post by: Ike the GSD on December 07, 2023, 09:09:06 PM
The FedEx here in town refused to make a shipping label for me and the two UPS stations I went to wanted $100 and $75.00 respectively to ship from Michigan to Rogers Arkansas ????? USPS also refused to ship the Invader😬. I had a really bad day today, do any of you guys have suggestions I'm all ears Thanks.

Why won't they ship it?

If it's on warranty ask Hatsan to provide a shipping label.  If you have to eat the shipping try PirateShip.com   They ship either UPS or USPS - whichever's cheaper.  Of course if you pay the excess it's your choice which way to go.  They'll tell you the price - probably under $50, you pay with Pay Pal, then print the label.  Drop the packaged, labeled item at UPS or USPS and you're done.  It's really smooth.

Set up a FREE account at Pirateship.com
Enter a label with the shipping info.
UPS is usually the least expensive..should cost less than $20.00
Take to a UPS terminal/counter.
NOT a drop off point or a Pack and Send...they can refuse anything.....
UPS should take it.

Because the dough head liberal FedEx manager insisted it's a firearm even after repeated attempts to explain to her that it isn't. it was one of the most aggravating/frustrating conversations I've had in my life. This after I called them prior to going there to make sure they would ship it and after a 20 minute wait on the phone was told that they could and shipping would be $30.00😬 I looked up the USPS policy and the answer I got from them was total💩 The UPS stations I went to were willing to ship my rifle, but they wanted to charge me $100, $75.00, the place that wanted $75.00 said at first shipping would be $19.00 and some change until I told him I needed a box then all of a sudden the price jumped another $55.00?? That must be some special corrugate👀

The UPS Super Center is about 20 miles from me, I've tried to call them and it's fruitless if you want to talk with a human being. If you can make your own labels online that would be great, but they'd be made of typing paper??  In case you couldn't tell I haven't shipped many things in my life let alone these Big Bad air rifles...

Glad to help...
Just make sure that you add enough insurance.
Even after printing, if you cannot use it for whatever reason, you can cancel the label and get a refund.

I'm sorry to keep asking these questions, but under what circumstances would I not be able to use the label? The UPS Super Center should accept the label right?

Accepting the label is not a problem...
If for some reason UPS would not accept it, then it can be cancelled/refunded.
BUT...............UPS should accept it...maybe no questions asked......

They scan the label, give you a receipt and you are out the door.

The label should not be an issue.  You use the program to print the label from the selected shipper.  It will include the ship to address as well as the return address.  It will also have a bar code and a tracking number.  I just use clear packing tape to cover the label so it can't be smeared or removed.  The shipper scans the bar code and gives you a receipt.

Our local UPS Store won't accept anything in a long box, even if I tell them it's golf clubs!  My local UPS driver has no problem accepting long boxes with pre-printed labels from Pirate Ship!  I've spoken to him several times and I don't even need to schedule a pick-up any more, I just flag him down when he's making deliveries on my street!

Our local UPS store is a real pain, if you mention the package has anything to do with guns, air or otherwide, they won't accept it!  I've even had them refuse to accept a scope!  It really is getting ridicules!  Now when I ship an  airgun, it's a Pneumatice Tool, a scope is a telescope, parts are machine parts!

I think "wall art", would work as well.

Gotta love our small town PO. First name basis with all 3 employees and we have a "don't ask, don't tell" relationship. They know what I ship and receive.   ;)
I once had James, the post master help me wrap and box a C02 pistol for shipping. Another time he helped me make a longer box out of 2 PO boxes.
But I assume that if they ever got in trouble before they would be more apt to play by the rules.

I just got off the phone with the USPS 1-800 help line and the lady that helped me confirmed that I can indeed mail my air rifle through them and she said (I got a chuckle out of this )" When you get there talk to the postmaster and if he still refuses to ship your air rifle get us on the phone" LOL! Thanks for all the help guys I really appreciate it👍

Down here near the bottom of the world we have only one of all the couriers that will transport airguns. You have to do it through a gun shop who luckily are obligng. I am 100 per cent certain that the courier drivers do not have firearms licences. I just wonder what the other courier companies are frightened of. It is just a parcel.

Got my Invader back today, I wasn't expecting it back so soon I'm really happy with Hatsan's service.  They replaced the breech seal, I ran a magazine through it a while ago and she works fine now 👍 Thanks again guys

NUMBER ONE RULE TO SHIPPING AIRGUNS ,  never tell them youre shipping an airgun and always  bring it prepackaged with a label already on it( and not in a box with a picture of a gun on it ) . The problem is not the policy on shipping airguns , its the person at the counter and their ignorance of the rules on shipping airguns.. We all recieve airguns by mail , so it stands to reason its not an actual policy. Glad to hear it all worked out
