Title: FX STX barrel in non FX airguns

Hi,

I am aware of several airgunners who are, or plan on, running an FX liner in a non FX airgun.  Why?

Hi,

I am aware of several airgunners who are, or plan on, running an FX liner in a non FX airgun.  Why?

Because they are good.  They come in many difference sizes, often only a thousands + difference in size.  Makes a big difference when shooting slugs.

But most people them use them in FX guns because they are that good.  Or so the PCP guys tell me...

Mike, it's a whole study by itself.
● I do not own any FX products.

I have been very interested in different barrels for accuracy,  and I'm still confused.

I have watched YouTube videos about FX products with amazement. This is the business started by an avid airgunner, Frederick Axelsson (sp?)  They have done a lot of development on airguns, and barrels. The old Ballard rifling was developed a couple of hundred years ago. Dealing with the flaws in barrel making has always been troublesome. FX actually had CNC machines built to press the rifling into the inside of the barrel from the OUTSIDE of the barrel. This leaves fewer burrs, and irregularities inside the barrel. A young guy out of South Africa named Matt Duber worked with FX on these barrels.  You can view Matt Duber's videos on YouTube.
I don't have any experience with these barrels,  nor do I have the machine shop to adapt to any airgun that I do have.I would love to try an FX barrel some day.
I would really like to see a unbiased evaluation of these barrels by someone.

FX barrels used to use the "smooth twist" barrel.  Only one twist at the end of the barrel.  My range PCP buddies, say that this is fine for pellets out to 100 yards.
They say that slugs need more twist!  So FX now makes barrel liners with various twist rates because each slug is "optimised" with a different twist rate.
Or just buy an Impact and experiment for yourself?
