I have had this little portable about 3 years now, use it for filling mainly bottle guns, and guns that need 4500 psi. It has served me well, and still is. The one thing this has to offer that most others do not is a place to add a few drops of silicone oil to lubricate the pump seals. I paid almost 2x this price 3 years ago.

I have this one from OrcAir which is basically the same thing. I don't use it often but it's great to keep in the truck with the carry bag I picked up at Walmart for it. I don't know if it has the place to add a few drops of lube, I'll have to look.

I just ordered the same exact compressor. I didn't see anything about being able to add oil to the compressor. Can you tell me how and where you add the oil? I really like this idea and thanks.

That little brass fitting, upper left corner of compressor in photo, with little hole is the air intake where a couple drops of oil go I do it about every 5 gun fills, or before topping off any 500 cc 4500 psi bottle.

Hmmm, I'll have to check that out on my OrcAir when I head back out to the Red Shed.

That feature is pretty cool. I'm anxious to see if this feature is still current on this compressor. My compressor is due to arrive around the 20th of December and thanks.

Tempting, but it looks exactly like my no function/warranty Vevor.
You have 3 years on that, yet my Vevor filled Prods 14 times and broke twice.
The warranty is an endless loop of send a video of it not working, then no response.
I will end up using it as a target one day.

I have not been gentle with it, topped off 2 90 ci bottles from 25000 to 4500 when my Shoe Box quit. And main gun that it fills is a Pile Driver. I did not expect it to last this long either, now price is 1/2 what I paid.

I have had a small portable for 2 years now. Only ever filled smaller volume PCP tubes, that could easily have been hand pumped. I have foam over the inlet of the cooling fan thinking it might help extend the life. Pulled the cover once and found the intake, its just mesh plate like the inside of a crosman pcp fill port. Wonder if adding a drop or 2 of silicone oil is something I should be doing also??

I would think so 10-15 wt. would be best as long as the silicone oil will flow through and not clog. I had seen videos of the one I posted where the reviewer went and use aerosol wd 40 type oil, that is a no no, and his failed shortly after I'm sure. With the compressor running you should see the drop get drawn in from the intake air flow.

I will try it. Thanks

I have wanted a portable compressor for years. I've never purchased one because I could never find a clear consensus of reliability for any of them. Yes, the shoebox was well liked, but $1000 was too much for me. I missed the $500 sellout at the end of production. It seems that every time I am ready to buy, an account of early failure will surface.
Thank you James for recommending an affordable unit.
Thank you Kurt to dimming my expectations.
I still don't understand the "oilless" thing. How can it work without lubrication? That's why I didn't buy the one Travis Whitney introduced.
I wish that we had a long running poll to report the reliability of each model. The real trouble with Chinese products is that they just keep changing the name of the same product. That is very disappointing, and aggravating.
I only have one bottle baby, its 500 cc. I have a 100 cubic inch bottle (from Joe Brancato / airtanksforsale / Topgun Airguns).
This one is about the same cost as 23 fillups at the Scuba shop, so I'll give it a go.

p.s.
James, what failed on your shoebox?
-
I had one of these and like you James I paid around $325 for it. It lasted ten months.
-
Chris, so what compressor are you happy with now?

Just put hour number 6 on the Gx CS4. I have had decent luck realistically with the tuxing, Yong heng and now the Gx. I did have a hp davvy yh clone that only lived a couple hrs. I wasn't happy at all. The yh had 36-37 hrs before it gave me problems, however it had been pumping rather hot air, which isn't good. It might just need rebuilt. The Gx has a couple huge bonus features the lower priced units didn't have. The biggest thing I like about the Gx is it's built to pump up to 400 bar. I'm not pushing it to it's max every time I top my bottle off because I don't stop until my gauge says 4350psi 300 bar. This hobby has been a work in progress to say the least.

Thanks Chris.

James - thank you for this thread. 👍
I just pulled the cover off my $100 no name chinese compressor and added 2 drops of oil to the intake mesh with the compressor running. Then topped off 2 marauder pistols and my Barra 1100z. Definitely felt the oil vapor on my fingers after cracking the bleed screw.
Gotta believe that vapor is also getting into the pcp tube and if nothing else will help maintain the o-rings, especially the one on the fill nipple.
I m gonna drill a hole in the cover while its off for future lubrications.

Hunter if I had the money I think I would buy an Alkin. That's a new to me car lol. I'm happy that GX offers the cs4 at such a reasonable price. I hand pumped for about two and a half years. That all ended once I started getting the higher fill pressure guns. Now I couldn't imagine not having one. I pushed that little tuxing compressor pretty hard for ten months. And I'm pretty sure that the only thing it needed was rebuilt. I ended up giving it to a friend.

Was the feature on the compressor you received? Have you used the compressor yet? Any thoughts?

I received my new compressor a few days ago. I'm happy to say this compressor does have the brass intake hole to add silicon oil.
I also like the moisture blow off on the bottom of the compressor. I haven't filled any guns yet but I did give it a short break in run. It's too early to offer thoughts until I can fill a few guns. The compressor seems well built but time will tell.
