Hi Jeff & Randall.
I have been looking at the spring powered Gamo Magnum Gr rifle for a long time now, ever since Gamo came out with them.
The price was always more than I was willing to pay.
This was the first time that I have seen this model of Gamo steeply discounted by any vendor, anywhere.
It will be interesting to see how this Gamo Spring Piston Magnum rifle compares to the two Hatsan 125 Magnums that I already have.
Un-scoped it is advertised to be 6.88 Lbs.
My Hatsan 125's are around 9 1/2 Lbs. un-scoped.

Tommy Boy,
Thats a very nice air rifle you have on the way. Alot of Power and Long but sounds light. A couple months ago i did try ordering the same Gamo Magnum GR, but that for whatever reason the order didnt work out. I have a Gamo Varmint Power .22 on its way.
Powered by Spring Piston so no worries on a leaking ram. From the Gamos i have i can assure you wont need to do any work like recrowning the muzzle, reworking breech leade, shimming Breech seal, etc.. some other brands need that work done, for me atleast.
Weather has been abit cold out so i havent shot much for the last 3 weeks.
Man I want a Magnum GR .22 , BUT , fornow i will dream, and dream on.. ill look out for you review on the Magnum GR .22.

You made me pull the trigger too...."dang" it.
$183.07 with tax, shipped. I watched Air Gun Detectives review before pulling the trigger. I never had a break barrel or springer before. Mostly classic pneumatics,
and C02's. Great price from what I've seen elsewhere.
Thank you....I think ;)

Hi Nukall.
Gee whiz, I am so sorry that your Gamo Magnum GR order did not work out for you.
Good luck on your new Gamo Varmint. I looked at that one too.
Plenty of power on that one and at at a weight of 5 1/2 Lbs .
I just happened to stumble across the deal that I got on this rifle.
I looked and looked at this one for an incredibly long time.
It was finally discounted down to a price that I was willing to pay. $169.90 + free shipping.
This one will be the most expensive air rifle that I have bought to date, followed by the Summit Ranger at $159.
The Diamond Back was $109 and all the rest were less than that.

Hi Rich,
Congratulations sir.
That is really good price too.
I am always willing to enable a fellow GTA member to spend their hard earned money on another air gun. ;)
Wow...You jumped right into the magnum's for your first break barrel rifle.
Note:
Expect a learning curve on this one, as compared to the other guns that you have.

What you see on Air Gun Detectives is a heavily modified piece. It's not what you'll get in the mail. You have to void the warranty to get the piece to shoot like he did. Do you have a Federal Firearms License? No? Then Gamo will not sell you parts. Problems? You ship the rifle back. You don't get THAT rifle back, you get the next rifle in the stack. New rifle, new problems, have to start all over again.

You are RIGHT Mike !
ATT: Buyer Beware.
Gamo will not sell parts unless the purchaser has an FFL.
Thank you for pointing this important point out.
As for me, before I bought my rifle, I got the parts thing covered as best I could.
The owner of a local gun shop/shooting range is a good friend of my son.
HE has an FFL... and he assured me that he would order any parts should that situation ever arise.

I guess it would be a non issue here as there seems to be a gun shop about every mile out here in the sticks, home shops, like a Starbucks on every corner ;), that would surly help me out.

For anyone interested, here is a link to a video that Rick Eustler did with an un-modified .22 cal. GR Magnum and what it shot like

Here is a link for a video that John from Air Gun Detectives did with this rifle.

As for me, I use reviews and videos only for reference.
The real facts come out after I have a rifle in hand and have shot it for a while.

Yeah, I don't put much stock in that guy's reviews. I kinda get the used car salesman vibe.

That was heartwarming. I take it your not a Gamo Salesman.
I did watch Rick Eustler's video and Airgun Angie's video also before purchasing. She was getting around 880 fps with JSB Exact Jumbo Diabolo 15.89 Grain pellets, about 27.3 fpe.
Not too shabby.

Hi Rich.
Say, I don't know if you have see this or not but this guy Mark already has a .22 cal. Magnum GR rifle.
Here is his reply to one of my posts about the Gamo Magnum GR.
It looks to me like the Gamo Stop Shock scope mount is not very effective on this particular rifle.

Thanks Tom!
I read the whole thread, some good information there.
You HAVE been pondering this one for a while, that thread started almost a year ago!
I too paid $169.90 with free shipping, however $13.17 in taxes brought it to 183.07.
Were you not taxed? Just curious!
Thanks,
Rich

Got the Gamo Magnum Gr Today!
It's Long!
-
Longer than my Streak!
-
Longer than my Black Powder Rifle.....
-
The only gun I own that's longer is my Winchester 1300....
barely!
I'll post some chrony numbers soon!
Cheers!

Congratulations Rich !
I have a thread in the gamo section of the spanish air gun gate.
When you post your numbes on your rifle, post them there. That will make it easy for others to research this rifle.
I do not have a chronograph and can not do that myself.
-
Congrats, Tommy!
I love to hear how you tame your magnum rifles into laser accurate tools.
Have fun, stay warm and dry.

I received mine yesterday. Today I set up the F-1 Shooting Chrony and ran 25 pellets across it.
I only used Crosman Premier 14.3 grn. Domed pellets today, I'll try others in the future.
This being my first springer, I have to say it does have quite a bit of recoil for an air gun!
Here's the results;
High Fps 932.5 High Fpe 27.6
Low 910.3 Low 26.3
Mean 920.22 Mean 26.88
There were only 2 shots that were 910, and 2 above 930. It was kinda all over the place high 920's thru the teens.
I did purchase some "Tune in a Tube" that Air Gun Angie used in a video I saw. It seemed to produce a more uniform spread.
I haven't received it yet. I'm not sure what the break in period is but I'll retest after about 100 rounds then retest after applying the Tune in a Tube.
This is a repost from the Spanish Air Gun Gate, I thought those that were interested in the GR might enjoy
Cheers!

I forgot to mention I'm at almost 2500 ft in elevation. My mean of 920 is right on par with Air Gun detectives mean of 956
basically at sea level (San Diego). This Pyramyd Air blog states it nicely.

I got mine ordered . No tax to Alabama; about $13 shipping = $213 . It may be more power than my Chinese B-28 and 1lb. lighter . Both are long.

Hi Kirk. Congratulations !
I have owned a B-3. You may be in for a shock when your rifle arrives.
Believe me, there is no comparison between a Gamo Magnum GR and a B-3.....not even close.
The first thing that you will notice is Magnum Gamo rifles are somewhat on the stout side to cock.
When cocking and loading, it is best to get a good grip on the barrel and use both hands.
I can cock mine about 7-10 times with my left hand but normally I use both hands.
If the barrel gets loose and snaps back up then that will bend the barrel....NOT GOOD.
Best Wishes - Tom

I got my Gamo Magnum GR and it equals my Hatsan 135 in cocking force needed to cock. I shot a 2x4 up close and had to move the target to a clean section not already shot through ! Thanks for the advice on taking off the high comb . Now I can see the sights . I don't want a scope -maybe a peep sight.
