Title: Dreams
Post by: avator on November 28, 2023, 02:53:40 PM
I don't dream or if I do, I don't remember them.
Betty Lou is revisiting the Vikings series on Peacock +.
If ever there was a dream I would want to remember it would be Lagatha and Beth Dutton in a mud battle.  :o ::) ;D

While I hardly ever dream...
I went through a serious period of VERY vivid dreams (Nightmares).. posted here in the back room.
I still remember them today... Awful.

I've had dreams of being shot where I felt the bullet(s) enter my body along with being stabbed. Haven't had one of those in decades. I've had nightmares where I went back to work and couldn't find the materials to do my job. Stressing really bad looking in all of the cabinets.

I'm a prolific dreamer. I have 2-3 different dreams each night. I have always said I should keep a pen and paper by the bed and write them down when I wake up. I could create some awesome screenplays!!! Those two ladies would make GREAT subjects of some of my many dreams. :)

Imagine "Ghost Ship", the "Island of Dr Monroe" and "Swamp Thing" all rolled onto one.
That was the worst.
Then there was the car crash... with all 4 my Daughters with me..... That is how I know I dream in color... Red.

Last night I dreamed I couldn't find my "cheese dip" much more better!

I used to have very vivid dreams but utterly surreal.  A year ago my doctor prescribed me a new medication.  Now I either don't dream or I don't remember my dreams.  Works for me.  When I was getting clean I had awful using dreams.  I still had them up until I started the new meds.

I quite often have dreams of being someplace relatively familiar and needing to be somewhere else in a relatively short period of time.  The route to the new location become progressively more challenging, with mountains, rivers and canyons suddenly appearing.  In some of those dreams, I have the ability to jump off the mountain/canyon wall and "fly" down to the next level.  In a recent dream, I was in a mall which suddenly expanded tremendously.  I didn't know exactly where I needed to go but the hordes of people moving around me ignored my requests for information so I just kept walking, wending my way through the crowds toward God only knows where.  Weird!

Just woke up from a dream with an escalator and a hall of frames in an open expanse like a church zi was recently in for a baptism. The most substantial, weighty element of the dream was a loaf of challah bread with an argument written on it. Actually it was three loaves but looked like one. Was the argument written by the teacher who likes me or the teacher who hates me? Usually their reasoning is second rate, but the argument written on the challah is actually a good, incisive argument. If only I could remember what was writ there... what it said...

Yeah, I dream and associate to my dreams. I find it opens the random doors of my mind through the random links between words and experiences I have lived. Usually involves a lot of time travelling (the associating, not the dreams as they first appear).

As a kid I remember of always falling and spinning. I always woke up with a jolt but never remember hitting bottom. Same dream night after night. I don't remember when those dreams stopped but since then I either don't dream or don't remember. After hearing some of y'all's stories I'm glad I don't.
Except for maybe some of Dez's   ;)

I've always been a vivid dreamer and yep, definitely had recurring dreams.  I'm in the same boat as Dave (Dez).  Trying to describe my dreams would be a big task, though.

My brain is pretty active but keeping my wife's hours (up by 4:30 AM, in bed by 7:30 PM most nights) definitely works well with my biorhythm.  I have the added benefit of prior military service- and one of the greatest "connectors" us veterans have is the ability to sleep anywhere at any time; and Global Thunderstorm Project albums playing in the background are like taking a tranquilizer.  Mostly good dreams, occasionally amazing, rarely bad.  I think being a calm and loving relationship definitely helps.

Come to think of it, I did have drug dreams for about 6 months after getting clean and out of that race. I think those dreams helped me stay clean because they scared the heck out of me. I would wake up thinking I had relapsed.

My wife is a writer. She writes her dreams down very morning. I write a little and have turned dreams into short stories. We both like erotic dreams.

My bad dreams have to do with people trying to get me and I can't find anything to protect myself or being put back in the Army to go to combat and I can't get the equipment I want.

My late father and I used to talk every weekend. One thing he always asked was 'How's your car doing.' Long after he died I dreamed he call me. First thing he asked, 'How's your call doing.' Then I remembered he was dead and asked where he was calling from. He said ' Sorry, I got to go.'

When I first got sober many years ago I had the drinking dreams. It so disappointing.

Talking to the deceased in dreams can let you make peace sometimes. i had a dream like that with my dog, Samantha (aka Poot) that I woke up feeling secure about myself and my life from, like she visited me and in her usually way let me know I am loved and secure except it impacted my whole being profoundly upon awakening.

I prefer that I do not have or recall dreams most often. Usually the one's I do recall are unpleasant, or lead to feelings of. Not all dreams are bad, got to hang out with my father once again, it was the same old-same old which somehow after a couple years of grieving made his passing easier to deal with. I guess in a way I got to have another day with him that I felt I missed out on, odd thing was we just made small talk and had his homemade soup. Was surprised he didn't put me to work, Lol.

I don't remember most dreams. One from many years ago I do remember unfortunately was being a back seat tourist in a Hawaii AS350 helicopter like the one pictured below flying around 300ft above the beautiful ocean when the pilot lost all cyclic control and the heli inverted during a steep dive and hit the ocean upside down. I jerked out of the blanket in bed being extremely relieved to realize I was alive in bed after dreaming that hoping I didn't just experience someone elses death as I've heard can happen sometimes because that felt way too real. I've heard about chopper crashes out there so maybe that's why I dreamed it who knows. Not a fun death but at least it was quick.

I dream every night. Some I remember. Some I'm sure I don't.
I prefer to think of them as having visited an alternate Reality/Time line or Parallel Universe.
It's a quantum mechanics thing.

I take 20 MG of Melatonin most nights and that helps me stay in a deep sleep where I rarely move or wake up during the night.

Considering nobody truly knows what happens after death, I mean complete and final death and not the "I died for 32 seconds on the operating table" kind, I don't find it to outrageous to think that revisiting a past life in a dream is a possibility. Who is to say it's not? Maybe I don't have dreams because I don't have a past life to revisit.
Yes, we all have our beliefs, which I hope we all remember the rules of the forum and differ from discussing them. I'm just saying, I'm open to all possibilities until personally proven otherwise.

I need to proof read before I post. No, I'm not a morning person.

Had as dream today during my nap. A bunch of homeless people were living in an old abandoned boweling alley, some of the roof missing. 3 or 4 decided to kill 4 other including me. Two of us survived. Cops said we were tresspassing like that made it okay to kill us.

I have a lot of full color vivid dreams with long conversations.   I can fly or can jump incredibly high in many of them.   Some of my dreams have music in the background like a movie.   Sometimes I wake up and remember the music and lyrics but I never write them down (it's original music created in dream).    I used to dream about food a lot when I was younger but not any more.   Some dreams are scary but I still like those.   A few times I died in my dreams, that usually wakes me up.   I don't seem to have as many erotic dreams as I used to.   Occasionally I'll be dreaming and know that I am dreaming and can partially control what is happening in the dream.  Those dreams are great.

Some times I dream most of the time I have some absolutely horrible nightmares. I like the nights where I shut my eyes and then open them with nothing in-between. Even my dreams are not pleasant mostly odd. Then when dad who has been gone for 10 years now shows up... Well when I wake up I'm left felling off.

The absolute most vivid dream like experience I ever had was waking up after having total reverse shoulder surgery.
I remember hearing muffled voices and looking up at 3 hatch like doors above me. It seemed like the voices were coming from the door on the right, if I remember right, so that is the door I went through and there were the nurses and other people in hospital garb moving around. I had no memory of where I was and why I was there. I was pretty numb from the neck down and my shoulder had thick bandages on it and tubes were coming out of my neck, the bandage and my arm. My first thought was that I chose the wrong door and often wonder what may have been what was behind the other 2.
Betty Lou came into sight shortly after and things began making sense again.
I've been put under a few other times in my life and never experienced anything like that waking up. And I remember it like it happened yesterday.

One of my dreams I turned into a short story for you entertainment.

I'm in a cheap hotel. I'm in coat and tie. I go down stair to the front desk and ask the clerk for a paper bag for me in the safe. In the bag is a small automatic, .32 or .380. I walk outside cross the street turn left then right down the next sreet. I walk down hill to a bar on the left, walk in and walk the lenght of the bar checking out the people. Then I walk out a door onto the next street over. I turn left walk uphill to a closed down bar, go inside look around and start down a pitch black hall. I hear and sense something coming down the hall toward me. I pull a switch blade out of my pants pocket and tell it, Come any closer and I'll stab you in the face.

I walk outside turn left and walk to another bar. It was packed, as I walked in a woman in a strappless evening dress said I'm not suppose to let you in. I keep walking and two waitresses say hello like they know me. I walk down a row of booths and see my wife in one her back to me. She in a silk blouse, slit skirt and stilleto heels. When I get to the booth I kiss her on the cheek and see a good friend of mine lying down on the other side of the booth. I ask him, Do you have a gun. He says, Of course. Can I borrow it? Don't you have one? Yes, but I might need two. The I woke up.

John Wick uses bigger guns. My friend was always dressed. When he lived in NYC he never carried but he was never without here in Savannah. But he walked around with Rolexes and diamond rings and drove Porches. Miss Baby told him if he kept on in this town he was going to be missing a ring finger.

Your mention of Savannah brings back memories of when my daughter got a four-year scholarship to attend Savannah School of Art and Design which is one of the best in the USA.  The first day at the downtown freshman dorm, which had a fenced parking lot with a guard station, the security guard came over and told me to go to a certain store to get her police grade MACE.  He said to do that first thing.  I guess it still has a lot of crime, but she never had any trouble.  The next 3 years she got 2 roommates and rented a house in a nice part of town though. One girl had a German Sheppard and my daughter has an Australian Cattle Dog, so I resisted leaving any weapons there with a bunch of kids around.

When I had gall bladder removal surgery last January, I had the same experience of really weird dreams the night after the surgery.  I can't really remember what happened but, for the first time ever as far as I can remember, I wasn't in the dreams but I could see what was going on.  I mentioned the dreams to the nurse the next morning and she said that the experience was really common, resulting from the aftereffects of the anesthesia.

I had flash backs in my dreams for years and would yell, thrash, and flail my arms.  The memsahib actually videoed me so I could see how violent it was.  I started going to see a shrink.  He said I had PTSD.  I laughed and told him "you gotta live through some trauma to get PTSD.  I'm livin the life of Reilly!"  The shrink wanted me to go through some kind of reversion therapy.  Bad Doctor.   I found a new shrink.  The new trick cyclist told me I was crazy, that it was hereditary, and gave me a bunch of drugs.  Good Doctor! I still don't sleep well, but I never did.  At least I don't dream anymore.

Mike a former neighbor next door who was a Nam vet suffered the same issues sleeping on the couch to avoid hurting his wife. He was walking with her in a park when someone's car backfired and he tackled her to the ground to save her from what he instinctively believed was gunfire then everyone around made sure to laugh at him for doing that the bunch of pricks. Like they would have faired any better than him after getting drafted into a war like that the idjits.

Bill a lot of people have out of body experiences where their soul leaves the body when in the hospital during NDE's ect and could prove what they saw the Dr's talking about while operating on their body below and could exactly describe the shoe that was laying on the roof or whatever else they saw that was confirmed to be actually there. We're not just our bodies that's just the flesh shell that we live in. Happened to me once also and tripped me out!
