Why did I need/want one? Most I’ve seen, seem to fetch a premium. And all polished up, doesn’t appeal to me. Too much bling! Not to mention my Blue Streak has been my go to, when a pest calls unexpectedly, and I don’t have time to think, I just need to get the job done.
But when this SS, appeared on eBay listed as “NOT WORKING” for parts, I tossed it in my watch list and headed off to work. 24 hours later noone had bid so I inquired and received a reply stating the bolt was stuck and it did not work. I made an offer and brought it home.
I dredded taking it apart, I think I was the first. Being xtra careful to not bugger up any screw heads or leave any scars, after removing the wood I sprayed a few blasts of “Thunder Bolt” on the action components and put it away. Fast forward 12 weeks I decided it was long enough and sure enough everything was freed up. The goo inside only made for a very messy dissassembly, but cleaned up easily.
Now resealed and back to life, it is my oldest Streak, mid 50s I think. I like the matte look and will leave the patina. The wood is georgeous with original finish. As it is my first Silver Streak, and having aged so gracefully, I think I’ll keep it but it’ll never replace old Blue.

OUTSTANDING!
Congrats and well done!

Enjoy.

Nice Timothy!
I have a ‘79 Silver Streak with the aforementioned matte finish. Pretty rifle & extremely accurate. Gotta love the Streaks!

That’s pretty, actually amazing to be in that shape. Maybe lucky it wouldn’t cock, they didn’t wear it out. Your date looks about right. Congratulations.
-
Congrats! Good score and reseal.

Your date looks about right.
Jon, thanks for a 2nd opinion on the date. If we get a sunny day I’ll get better pics. Lighting really makes a difference.
-
Congratulations. I have a few made around that time.

I have Sylvia.

I have Sylvia.
Bill - she appears to have a silver thumb safety, tube end plug and trigger guard? Mine are black and I wasn’t sure being a SS if the silver accents came later or what??
-
She is more of a dullish satin finish than others I've seen. Not sure if using something to brighten the finish would work but I prefer to keep her aged look. I do keep her clean and shot her to keep her juices flowing but I'm not into the spit shined polished look.
-
That's like winning the lottery, great score!

Sweet old Sylvia ! Thanks for the pix.

Sweet old Sylvia ! Thanks for the pix.
Yep, she is one of the 3 or 4 that will be with me until I am not. Betty Lou can do with them as she pleases after that.

I think I still have “ Sylvia’s Mother ,” around here too.

LOL... I bet you do.

Mine is a younger "rocker" safety but one of my keepers.
Side bar... when that song came out, My 3rd grade teacher was Mrs Avery.
Still today, when conversations go too long I say "and the operator says 40 cents more...for the next ...3 ...minutes"
Only the old people get it.

For many years, I looked and looked for a Silver. I found and bought a few Silver Benjis but never got a Silver Streak.
Then, about two years ago a good friend came ta visit with a gift. His Silver Streak! I finely have one!!
I Dont remember its date, but its a hard shooter, in good shape, only needed a bolt seal and a wood refinish. Also the wood is nicer then most, but not really figured.
Love my Streaks Glad I was able to have Uncle Tim steroid two of them!!

Woohoo!!! I found that I had another insta mount!!!! So I mounted the Leupold Pistol 2x in LWT rings to the barrel infront of rear site. Site in was three shots as it was very close!!!
What a handy set up!!!!
Now to find proper O ring and swap out Bolt Seal.
BTW my Silver is a 1968 Gun.

Welcome back!

Wife has left on a girls trip and in between projects I thought I’d revisit my Silver Streak. Hadn’t really rung it out fully just site in with 4-5 pumps in the basement.
During the rebuild I was thinking about increasing efficiency, given the age and condition, less pumps is more. So I had made and installed the following (see pics)
I finally put a few shots over the chrony and had to share! Old Blue really likes the 11.42 H&Ns so I’ve got a good supply and 8 pumps in the Silver Streak shocked me (last pic)

Is that the exhaust chamber spring in the pictures?
-
I made the check valve spring guide to replace the internal valve washer and reduce valve volume a little bit.
I thought 800fps out of a Sheridan only happened with a Steroid treatment and alotta pumps!
-
A speed of 786 fps from a Sheridan is impressive !
