Hi, first post here so if I do something wrong, please correct me. I received a FWB 300 (not a 300S) in trade a few months ago and now have time to learn about it and start shooting it. It does not have a rear sight yet but I found one for sale and will probably buy it. The front sight is there but I will need inserts.
My first questions are:
What are the major differences between the 300 and the 300S?
What does "Waffen-Voll" over "alchach" mean? That looks like what is stamped in the stock just behind the action.
Where can I find instructions on the proper/safe loading procedure? I have read that the ratchet mechanism can release while a pellet is being inserted. Not something I look forward to.
And last, are there any "do's" or "don'ts" associated with these air rifles?
I have had a few springers and a CO2 but nothing of this quality. I'm really looking forward to putting a rear sight on and having a lot of fun with it.
Your information, comments, advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome. I may have asked too many questions in one post but this site seems to have some very knowledgeable people and I'm trying to get up to speed on my FWB.
BTW, I really appreciate the spell check. Only I know how dumb I am.... ;)

Welcome PP, LOL!!!! sorry had to do it! I have also just aquired 2 FWB300s guns I haven't had the chance to dig off into them much yet! but I do have a Manual on these guns. all I can tell you so far is their very cool guns to shoot I have a couple of posts on these guns here on this page probably not much help at this point but we'll work it! :P

you can also do a search in your search engin and pull all kinds of info on these guns and you tube has some videos you can watch! :P

Mark, not to worry about the "PP" lots of people call me that on other forums. Saves typing time. Besides, I was in supervision and not much riles me.... ;D\
Anything I can learn about the air rifle would be great. It does seem that they were not the most prolific models made so that probably limits the number of people who have experience with them. Hopefully, more information will be forthcoming.

Theirs some here who do have more knowledge about them then me I'm sure for right now! I've been looking at these guns for awhile and bought 2 of them in less than a week, I do have a deep interest in these rifles and plan to do my own tuning on them, I do have allot of experience in tuning AG's so I'm willing to take a crack at them! I've been arming myself with allot of info getting ready to open one of them up for a tune! :P

> For the recoilless mechanism to work, you have to hold the stock snugly into your shoulder. IOW forget the artillery hold for this rifle.
> If the sledge (the upper receiver) does not move easily when you fire, there are 3 pins in the receiver that needs to be cleaned and "lightly" lubed.
> Be VERY aware of finding any white plastic coming out of the transfer port. Any plastic is the piston buffer breaking down. This NEEDS to be replaced if it starts to break down, or the piston will be damaged when it slams into the front of the cylinder.
> If you shoot it in the standing position, be very careful of your stance. That is a HEAVY rifle, and an improper stance could injure your lower back. I shoot with a back belt from Home Depot, to support and brace my lower back.

Thanks for all of the information. I found a rear sight and will use that instead of a scope for now. I have read that the scope should be fairly short or it will interfer with the loading procedure.
I'm practicing loading while holding the lever back. I will take the rifle out of the stock again and make sure everything is clean and lubed underneath. The rifle has a red seal instead of a blue one. Is that a problem? The last owner said the rifle had been tuned by Paul Watts and he had upped the velocity to just over 650 fps. The trigger is great; probably 3-4 ozs so I will not get into the adjustment screws yet.

If Paul tuned it? then it probably has JM's seals in it and spring! He uses JM's parts for the most part. :P

Hi Wellcome to the 300 b-hood.
The S-series differs mostly in that they are a more varied range, mainly showing different stock shapes.
You might also try loading with the right hand while blocking the cocking lever with your right elbow where action and lever meet. But I never heard of the ratchet giving way unless badly worn. To test this, cock, hold muzzle down and check if lever falls downwards under its own weight. If this is the case you need a new ratchet. As far as my command of German goes the text you cite makes no sense so maybe inscription is damaged. Sorry. Also see 300 forum on Yahoo.

If it was tuned, then it was likely cleaned and lubed, so you should be OK.
Yeah, that "light" trigger is a competition match trigger. 10m AR competiton has no rule about a min trigger weight, so some are VERY light. Thus you need to be VERY careful when using a match trigger away from a controlled range. They are the proverbial "hair pin triggers."

Red breech seal is Maccari.With the breech fully open you can see the piston buffer.If it is red it was replaced with a Maccari buffer as well and probably has his one piece spring.The 300 has a piston ring instead of synthetic seal.
