Title: Urban 20 shot string
Post by: 3crows on October 11, 2023, 07:31:42 PM
I know the Urban is not the in thing but I was playing around some more with one of mine. It is tuned for hunting at 26 fpe average with Hades 15.89 grain pellets. It really prefers the JSB 18 pellets for a couple of more foot pounds and better accuracy but I have what I have and I like the Hades.

A twenty shot string:

Avg. velocity 857.43
Avg. FPE 25.92

The rifle has a slightly enlarged valve port, the extra power Gamo transfer port and the barrel port is sized up slightly with a reamer. I turned the hammer spring in a couple of turns but the rifle is still easy to cock. I did remove the pickle and installed an adapter for a "thing" and then I sleeved the barrel with a carbon fiber tube. I also removed the barrel band and there is a GT trigger. On my 30 yard range it routinely stacks pellets.

Oh, I forgot the picture, the Urban in it's native environment on sun set pest patrol:

Nice! Those are solid rifles for sure.

This reminds me. When I was looking for deals on Pyramyd's site, I saw that they had Urban magazines on sale. I think the price was $29 but don't hold me to it. Still not cheap, but I think regular price is like $40-$50. That's the main reason I never got one I think.

Thanks for the link. There is a hardware/outdoors store back home that surprisingly has a very complete PCP rifles section and supplies. They had the magazines for cheap. The rifle came from there also. I think it was $235 or something like that. Then I bought a second Urban on Amazon for about the same price.

That is a Coyote stock? How much weight does that add? I have a thing about weight and heavy rifles. I have thought about getting the longer Coyote air tube but decided to just instead leave the little thing alone and keep pouring my expendable air rifle funds into the Marauder Twilight Zone.

Its a Buccaneer stock. I'm not sure how much weight it has, never really compared. It is a bit longer than the Urban stock but it suits the gun well. I'm a huge fan of wood and metal.

;) It is gravity I am not a fan of. And the older I get the more it weighs upon me!

Removed pickle and installed 1/2x20 barrel fitting to use a Crosman trail baffle and carbon fiber shroud. Also replaced air tubes with longer Buccaneer tubes. Slightly enlarged all ports.

I use mine for pest control, it likes the H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme Pellets the most. These pellets have been a one hit wonder on the squirrels. It's one of the few guns that I have that like the H&N pellets. Mine is unmolested as well and have no intentions having it any other way.

I was not going to mod mine either until I shot the baffle out and Gamo would not sell me another internal piece. Actually, they did not have any to sell per the Gamo lady. So I removed it. Then I bought a second Urban. It, so far, is stock except for adjusting the hammer spring to bring the energy up to about 22 fpe average. It will do 30 shots, flat curve. The modded rifle does 20 shots relatively flat. I fill to around 3,000 or perhaps a little more. I intend to remove the pickle in due course. I just cut the pickle off proud of the barrel and then burn the remainder off.
