Ondrej sent me a sample of his heavy, long-range slugs for .223 cal PCPs.... They weigh 67 gr., and come packaged like this....

This is about the most bulletproof packaging I have ever seen, full marks for providing this level of protection.... The slugs are a round-nosed design with a boattail.... Like my designs, they have a slightly narrower section in the middle, so that part of the slug does not touch the rifling.... The guiding portions are the back of the nose, and just in front of the boattail.... They are individually CNC machined, and I don't know of any other airgun slugs that can come close to the quality.... virtually a mirror finish....
I won't have a chance to test them for a while (likely next spring), but I will give a report on how they work when I do.... Thank you to Ondrej for the opportunity....

Bob,
I am very glad that someone like you is getting to test them (once the Canadian winter let's you out of its icy claws).
Just recently I started shooting Altaros slugs, and the results at 200 yards were better than what I shot with other guns and other slugs at 100 yards.
It's probably both the slugs and the gun — but nevertheless, I am very happy with such a good initial performance — without any tuning (and with a lousy 18x max. scope, with the target lit up by a couple of flashlights only....). 😊
Looking forward to you comments, when you had the chance to do some test.

Too bad you have to wait to test them. Being CNC machined the slugs should be very uniform in diameter and likely have good balance due to the design?

Hi Bob, any idea if the Altaros design will eventually be available at NOE or Accurate?

I very much doubt it, why would a manufacturer that is selling slugs give the design to a company that produces molds?....

MP Molds sells a Huben peanut slug. It's not exact, but close. Don't know how hard it would be to replicate a finished product.

Sometimes people are not purely money grubbing?
So when they have something which proves to be really exceptional and they don't mind doing the community a favor they simply contribute out of the goodness of their heart.
There is a reason.
