Well they're not good at their jobs and I honestly don't think they should have them in the 1st place, they all should have been fired when they decided to strike.

Gotta weigh in on this one.  As some of you know my first career was in Hollywood.  I knew a few writers.  Most of them didn't work (or eat!) real regular.  Working freelance in Hollywood is not easy.  I spent weeks (sometimes months) pounding the pavement looking for work between shoots.

They tell you "we're shooting for seven weeks and we'll give $3,000 a week plus negotiables".  Sounds good don't it?  So you work scut jobs for a month until this shoot starts.  Then at the end of the third week they tell you, "Oh yeah, we're done with the part we need you for.  So long."   So you gotta hit the streets again.  Feast or famine.  That 9 grand don't go far in Hollywood.

If you are lucky you get on a series or you win the lottery and get on a big movie that spawns a bunch of sequels.  If you are talented and lucky you might become popular.  But most of us sweated in the trenches for years before we made it big.

If you are union you can't work on non-union shows.  Puts a big crimp in what you can do.  If you aren't union you can't work on union shows which locks you out of the big studios.  It's a swindle.  So you pay your dues and you climb the ladder.  You start as a "C" and hope that no A's or B's want your job.  Put in enough hours and you can advance to B and sweat the A's beating you out.  Make it to A and you're golden.  A's get first right of refusal on union jobs.  There aren't a whole lot of A's in Hollywood so they command top dollar.

It's absolutly cut-throat, dog-eat-dog, rat-eat-rat too.  So I don't begrudge those folks if they want more money or benefits.

I made my money and got out when the gitten was good.  8)

LOL!  I have no talent and I was never a writer.  I went to Hollywood to be a production artist. Lived in my van for two years. Nearly starved (Remember, no talent).  Wised up and got a job pushing paper for a production service company. I was a film permit coordinator. I negotiated permits that allowed film companies to shoot on public property (ie. Streets, parks, public buildings) all over Southern California.  Got paid surprisingly well for it.  Hated it.  Worst job of my life.
Nasty business. Lots of graft. Lots of back stabbing and black mailing.  Lots of bald faced lying to people.
I’m ashamed to say I made a pile of money doing it.

Yeah AI can have that job. :P
