Hatsan Striker 1000S Vortex  DOES NOT LATCH  when cocking it

Do you want to help an airgunner who makes his living above 11.000ft?  8)

Well, I already helped the guy. He lives far out in the boonies: So, I went to my local gun store, bought him the requested Hatsan Striker 1000S Vortex .22cal, and sent it to him. In our part of the globe the gun ran him $220 in local currency. The shipping company, after the fact, refused shipping "A WEAPON" and also refused to refund the shipping costs. No recourse to get my money back for a service they never gave me.

Well, and now, the nice gun is broken, after only 50 shots. And its in the boonies, nowhere close to some gun smith....
So, would you help me -- to help him?

PROBLEM:
When cocking the barrel, there is the normal resistance. But at the end of the "breaking" movement, "it" doesn't latch:  The barrel keeps the tension, and it has to be moved forward again to relax it. He has reportedly not adjusted anything, not even the trigger. He only installed a scope, and after the installation the gun worked fine.
Reportedly, after the last shot where the gun functioned and the current broken state, nothing was done to the gun, it just sat in a corner.

Any suggestions?
THANKS!!

Matthias

Sounds like a trigger issue. Maybe someone adjusted it too light or a spring broke.

Scope-stop screw is protruding into the compression tube too far and not allowing piston to go back far enough to latch with trigger sear. Remove scope and stop-plate to test if it starts cocking again.

Good call Mike... I forgot about that one.

Thank you, guys, I'll see if this works, or we invoke the warranty.

Cheers,
Matthias
