Title: HW35 Slings and Swivels
Post by: atriot on September 03, 2023, 01:35:13 PM
Hi Everyone, could use a little help here. I'm looking to modify my HW35 to use a sling attachment point on the stock instead of the barrel. I've found a machine screw stud that'll replace the original stock screw (made by Best Fittings), however this creates a new problem as any twisting motion of the rifle strap will be transferred to the screw. Can anyone recommend a workaround for this?

Put a swivel on the screw and attach your sling to the swivel.  If I recall the front mount of the sling on a HW 35 attaches to the barrel.

One of two options I would recommend would be to find an Uncle Mikes short stub pivot bolt (5/8”)  and install aft of the stock screw. They come with a white spacer washer.
Another option you might consider is find and Uncle Mikes barrel band and install it down close to the breech block.

If you end up with a barrel clamp, put something under the clamp to protect the barrel. Every used gun I bought with a barrel clamp has a mark where the clamp was. I take them off and chuck them.

I would think a bicycle inner tube would work well?
