I finally found time in my busy day today to shoot the new Stoeger S3000C 117cal rifle.
I had posted about it in the Bargain Gate a few days ago.
I placed a Shoot & See target out under a pine tree in my back yard that is 35 yards from the back door of my garage.
I was seated shooting semi-off-hand out of the back door with the rifle braced on the upright door frame.
I was shooting Crosman Destroyer pellets today.
The scope on the Stoeger is a small 4x32 CV Life Mill Dot Lt weight scope.
Before todays shoot, I had only shot this rifle 23 times.
With the 25 shots today it makes 48 shots through this rifle.
Certainly not broken in yet but not too bad all things considered.
This one is going to be my short range "Garden Gun"
Best Wishes - Tom
P.S.
Here is the link to the Bargain Gate post on this rifle for anyone interested in seeing it.

Seems like a good shooter especially from that distance 8) those destroyers must be hitting the target at only like ~500 fps but seem to be holding together. Have you tried any domes in the 8 grain range ?
-
It must be shooting at the right speed for my lest favorite pellet to do a group like that. Not many of my guns would do that well with them.

I think you are right James.
I have a few tins of Destroyers but I generally only use these pellets for hunting.
Unfortunately, I don't have a chronograph to check the actual pellet speed out of my gun.
I shot these pellets because they were an open tin and the rifle isn't broken-in yet anyway.
I had to re-adjust this scope about 4 clicks up as it had previously been zeroed at 20 yards
Once I get get this tin shot up I will switch over to some other type of pellet and see how it does.

Hi Aakash.
I have not tried any other pellets so far.
Once I get this partial tin shot up and get the rifle broken-in a little more I will try something else.

Tommy Boy,
Excellent Shooting, 35 yards with 6+ FPE !
Sound like you got a good shooter.
Today my Sons S3000c .177 accidently got banged,,. The rear sight broke off. At first i thought id need to mount a light 4x32mm scope, which would make the AG abit too heavy for my Son. But,, he suggested glueing it. So i applied glue to both parts. Held it in place for 30 seconds. 10 minutes later i tested 20 shots good,, tested if the adjustments work, both elevation and windage work.
To begin with, this is louder than most of the breakbarrels i have. The shot cycle is smooth. Have around 350+ shots in. I removed the stock and added 1 layer of Vinyl Electric Tape along the entire compression tube, lined up to mount as close to the cocking arm slot and above the trigger group to the end of the Compression tube.
Another thing, mine has a heavy trigger, heavier than id like. The Specifications listed where i have seen state : Adjustable 2-stage trigger. Though looking at the trigger there is No adjustment screw. I removed the trigger return spring and clipped 1 coil. Straightened the clipped end w heat and tiny pliers and flatten the end with a file. Re install spring. The trigger travel while still heavy, now has a Wall that can be stopped on to be broken when on target. Before removing 1coil the travel was a heavy without any feel of a stop or wall, just heavy travel.
RWS Spring Cylinder Oil on every other coil on the Main Spring and a drop on the Cocking link, ball detent, a drop on the front and rear of the trigger. Doing this prevents rust and luricates moving parts. Around this time of the year i perform the above stated on all my Spring Piston Airguns. Gasrams get the same lube on the moving parts.
Re assemble stock to action. Trim any exposed tape from the action. Not done yet, Dremel 3000 along with the coned shaped bit i use to recrown barrels and to open the Breech leade. Run at 1/4 rpm until the bit runs smooth having removed what matterial was in the way, attempting to run The Dremel as level as can be. Ran the Pushrod with a .177 brass brush coated in ND30 oil 10 times followed by a .177 Brushless Bore Snake.
Almost done. Black 1" GorrillaTape, 3 rounds as tight as can be infront of triggerguard. Another 4 rounds right where the Forearm palm swell is widest 1.5" back from the cocking slot. My Son said it sounds quieter than before. I still think its Loud.
CPHP 8.0 gr
Good fit, most have good head engagement when loading a pellet, not tight not loose. These do good in most of my breakbarrel and Multipump AGs.
CPD 7.45gr
Loose fit, some pellets engage rifling when loading, half fall in untill the skirt catches in the Leade. Abit too loose for my S3000c, good consistent pellets in my other AGs that have tight barrels.
Checking Sight in at 15 yards, before it was hitting right above sights, after having done the above, the AG was hitting 2" high at 15 yards. Adjusted sight till righton. Will resight to 20yards.

Hi Nukall.
Wow Thank you for adding this valuable information about this rifle.
I don't have a chronograph so I could not add that type of information.
If you read the Bargain Gate posting that I did on this gun, you will see that I used a moly-based bicycle chain lube in and on the trigger assembly.
That improved my trigger greatly and I have not had any issues with it.
Dear readers of this post:
As to the trigger on this gun... please bear in mind that I have seriously strong fingers from a lifetime of hard physical work as a heavy industrial mechanic. I don't have a rifle that I can't squeeze the trigger on, slowly and precisely. I also don't have a rifle that I can't easily cock and shoot off-hand.
Nukall, just like you ...I also made special note of the fact that there is not a trigger adjustment screw on this rifle.
Keep the information coming Nukall.
For anyone who has this rifle, please feel free to post your information here.
There is not much information on this gun so we are making it now.
It would be convent for future reference and research to have it all in one place as opposed to being scattered out amongst several posts.
Best Wishes - Tom

I think that's a newer version of a Stoeger X5 or Xisico B-12.
My wood stock refurbished X5 prefers RWS Meisterkugeln wadcutters and RWS Superdome pellets.
My X5 became so much better with a new piston seal, deburring, and lube...I should have done it when the gun was new instead of waiting. I used a Gamo
25mm seal from James Maccari.
The trigger part that latches to the piston wore out on my gun at around 7000
rounds, and I had to recut it with a file.
I'm at around ten thousand rounds through my gun now...still with the factory spring.

Hi Jeff
Thank you for your input.
The S3000C also looks a lot like the X-10 too.
Some years ago, SteveP-52 gave me a Stoeger X-3 that he had refinished and rebuilt.
In a way, this rifle reminds me of that one though it not as nice and refined as the one that Steve did.
He had installed a B-3 underlever spring in it after clipping a few coils.
He had given it to me for my grandkids to shoot when they were younger.
That rifle was really nice. It was a very smooth and refined. It was highly accurate too.
I never should have let that one go and have sorely regretted that decision.
Here is a picture of the Stoeger X-3 that Steve gave me.

I went to Walmart Thursday morning and bought 3 tins of pellets.
I picked up 2 tins of 117cal Crosman 7.4gr Pointed Pellets and 1 tin of 117cal Daisy 7.2gr Pointed Pellets.
Later on late that afternoon I took 25 shots at 25 yards with the Crosman pellets and 20 shots at 25 yards with the Daisy pellets.
I first sighted the Stoeger in with the Daisy pellets...wow..not so good with those pellets.
Some of the Daisy pellets hit the box but not the Shoot-and-See stick on target.
I was going to shoot 25 shots but quit at 20 shots as some of the hits were not even hitting the target.
Then I sighted the Stoeger in with the 117cal Crosman 7.4 gr Pointed Pellets, much better shot group.
I noticed that the Crosman pellets were not as sharply pointed as the Daisy pellets.
The shot groups show the sight in shots as well as the final shots.
I was shooting semi-off-hand while seated with the rifle braced on a door frame.

Hi Rion.
Thank you for your complement.
SteveP-52 did a good job rebuilding, custom tuning and refinishing that Stoeger X-3 rifle.
My grandson is now 15 yrs old.
He is quite a soccer player now days.

S3000c
After having to repair the rearsight which broke from a soft bonk, i was unpleased with the rearsight being adjusted nearly all the way left. I had recrowned the barrel but still had to be adjusted far left.
I backed off the grub screw on the frontsight/Barrelsleeve and twist and pull to remove from the barrel. Around 9" long, it is in a way a barrel sleeve being under tension of the fit and more than half the length of the barrel. The end is canted which i found bothering so with a very sharp knife i cut the end straight and fine tune with a file.
I measured the S3000c
Around 40, 7/8" < 1038mm
I cut 1,3/8" < 37mm from the barrel
Now sitting at 39, 3/8" OAL < 1000 mm
The barrel is at 15,3/8 < 391mm
All measurements Include the slipon frontsight, which protrudes 11mm past the rifling.
I removed the stock from the action to perform the following.
To make the cut i measured and with a small knife I marked around the barrel the amount i wanted to remove. I then took 1" black Gorillatape to apply 10 tape rounds right where the marks are to be cut. Then with a new 32 tpi blade on a Hacksaw mounted on as tight as can be, i began the cut trying to at first remove an equal amount around until i was sure the cut made would be straight. After the cut using a file i smoothed out the muzzle face while leaving the tape on to make sure i dont overcut any of the sides. I got it to be as level as it can be then colored the exposed metal with a sharpy XD
Using a rather new stone cone bit, i recrowned the barrel, then using a copper 177 brush i hand spun in the crown for 1 minute. I then recolor the new crown. Install the slipon frontsight level as can be. I added Camo GTape to the barrel to be the same diameter as the slipon Sight.
I removed the damaged repaired rearsight and took a rearsight i had sitting from a B1022. I removed some of the sides to make it sit lower on the barrel. One screw holds the rear sight in which is enough on this low power Spring Piston AirRifle.
Reattach the stock to the action and added 2 rows of 1" Black gtape right behind the cocking slot as tight as can be. 1 row is over the cocking slot and doesnt interfere with caulking cycle.
Cleaned the barrel

Hunting Update: 12/2/2023
I had the good fortune, last Sunday, to harvest a nice male Gray Squirrel with the Stoeger.
I posted the hunt in the Hunting Gate.
With this rifle, I only employ head shots.
I don't feel that it has sufficient power to penetrate deep enough to make effective killing shots to the lung/chest area.
With this gun, I confine my shots to around 20 to 25 yards.
This gun is not my first choice for hunting.
I mostly use this rifle for pesting & plinking at home.
Surprisingly enough, the Stoger has proven to be quite lethal under the right circumstances.
Since I bought this rifle in August, I have been well pleased with it.
Surprisingly enough, this particular .177 cal. Stoeger that I bought has proved to be quite accurate. YMMV
Best Wishes - Tom
