Title: Rainson Edge ?
Post by: aluminumfetish on July 21, 2023, 12:28:57 PM
I did a search for RAINSON in the forum here and found nothing. To be fair the search function on this page is a hot mess. There are several youtubers with this rifle and it looks ok. It's an interesting design. Has anybody here laid hands on one ? Is it junk ? The synthetic version is a semi bull pup style with a rather unconventional bottle setup. It looks a bit like a Notos and an AEA had a baby.
The price point says maybe avoid this but the total lack of coverage on the forum has me curious. If anybody has shot one of these, please comment.

Thx,

Had synthetic camo one in my hands Wednesday at Veradium Air. I liked it. Well balanced and solid. Fit/finish what you would expect I think. Didn’t have a chance to shoot it. Brian does some tweaking on them and ups power level considerably. Thinking about putting his version on my Christmas list. Might contact him for info on stock version.

i just got one yesterday from ares airguns tactical,
bought it from ebay and was pleasantly surprised to see the ares packing slip.

aoa has it but its almost 50 bucks more,
and doesn't include the extra barrel and mags.

i got the edge x synthetic.

i have been checking it out lately,
and i figured hey,
bottled and reg'd,
.22 & .25 barrels and probes,
a HEAVY silencer
and 3 mags for each caliber.

FOR $549!

yes please,
its a tinkerers dream lol

i will say im not a fan of the proprietary fill adapter
(its a foster fitting, slightly fatter than a regular foster)

but i had an extra hose to screw it onto so no biggie.

seems really well made,
and the action and "ping" noise seems really subdued.

i like the ease to change the probes,
it includes a little wrench,
pull the barrel (big meaty barrel grubs)
unscrew the probe,
screw the new one in place,
and put the barrel back on,nice and simple.

AND
the transfer ports on both barrels,
are almost exactly like the slug transfer port on my impact,
i dig that.

i put the .22 barrel on mine,
and shes throwing 18gn jsb heavies at 910-915fps  8)

hopefully tomorrow ill get a chance to take her to a permission and get some shot strings and sighted in at 50yds,and try what slugs i have on hand.

using chairgun i have it hitting where it should at 13yds,
so ill be on paper when i get there.

so far its making little tiny groups on my 13yds target.

Interesting. Some youtuber was shooting the .25 with the reg set at 180 bar. This seems crazy high... maybe not for .25 but perhaps these are hot from the factory ? Nine pounds does seem extra heavy but that bottle could be swapped ?
Staling Assassin, very curios to get your thoughts. Please report back as soon as you get some data.

Thanks,
Mitch

Bottle is heavy. Brian told me swapping saves about 1.5 lb.

the reg on mine seems to be set around 145bar.

i have not touched the hammer spring yet,
that will be tomorrow lol

it seems to really like slugs,
i shot a group of nielsen 17.5gn and it was just a small hole a little bigger than a .25 pellet.

Hey Chris, if it's not a problem, can you measure the Length of pull with the butt at max length ? The synthetic version looks to have a clever adjustable butt pad. I saw a video of a guy testing a .177 version. Detuned for efficiency, that looks like a sweet setup for an 85bar reg'd pellet shooter. I want one. Also Chris, considering it's obscene weight..... what scope did you put on it and what is it's scoped weight ?

Thanks a million.

sorry for the late reply.

in the closed position lop is 14.75"
fully open position lop is 15.50"

(measured from the deepest part of the trigger blade)

i just threw a cheapie amazon bestsight 4-16x44AO on it for now.
its lightweight, and surprisingly clear for the price.

crosshairs are a touch thick,
but has numbered mil hashes so its fine for now for testing.

if she shoots well ill put an arken on it.

im used to heavy guns my impact weigs a ton lol
