Has anyone with a wood stocked challenger put much effort into paring down the weight in one of these?

I am exploring milling a "lower receiver" out of a block of aluminum.
Working out the kinks with a wood block now.

Aluminum subframes would work, but I am actually giving thought to wood removal in judicious locations. Hollow out or "skeletonize" the butstock, multiple vertical or horizontal holes, evenly spaced for esthetics, and so on....... I'm just looking for visual inspiration before cutting, since I have no desire to trash the existing stock.

My other thought was to mold and cast using fiberglass. I've seen some really nice Bullpups with a weight reduction sculpting wood. You could ream it out hollow and fill with fiberglass.....If all the weight is removed from the but end it will change the balance point. Best of luck sir!
