Title: Gamo Air Shot Survival Rifle
Post by: RANGER94 on June 19, 2023, 11:02:28 AM
Hello!

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question, please feel free to move if I am in the wrong place.  I was looking for some background information on the Gamo Air Shot Survival Rifle?  My Dad purchased this for me in 1986 for $80.00 from a local gunshop.

Any facts or historical info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

Cool gun, of the John D. Rambo school of commercialism!

I've never seen one, but your gun reminded me of the Gamo Gamatic, a bullpup, pistol-grip breakbarrel gun of similar vintage. After a little digging I learned the Air Shot Survival is indeed a chopped, camoed, skeleton-butted version of the Gamatic.

The Survival Gamos were made in Brazil (by Magtech?), they had a tubular 25-pellet magazine and an output of around 600 fps in .177 cal (so not really a hunting gun, which you would want for "survival".). Similar-design guns were in production already in the early 70's, which is news to me. I don't think these guns were made beyond the 80's. Bullpup breakbarrels is really something else.

A super cool toy for an 80's kid, for sure.

Bucky, I have a Daisy 130 break barrel repeater. It has the same identical magazine as your Gamo 94. Had the same front sight but I removed the open sights and mounted a steel barrel weight. I mounted an A.I.M 2-7x32 scout scope on the barrel using a 1 rail 5 slot picatinny barrel accessory mount and a one piece off-set scope mount. It has 'Made In Spain' stamped across the back of the receiver left to right under the magazine. You can Google it. The Daisy 130A was the same gun but single shot.

Thanks so much for the help!  It shoots kind of rough (probably from not being touched in 35+ years), I am probably going to drop it off at John Thomas in PA to have him take it apart and lube it up.  Fun little gun, and brings back memories, I killed alot of small varmints with that thing..

Thanks Again!

Thanks for the heads up.  I am going to watch that for my own records!  I have no intention of selling it, but it is fun to track these things.  Nostalgia!!!
