I got a 34p this afternoon and I think I got dooped. It looks just like a 34p except it has a T05 trigger. The scope mount is a one piece but the screw in vertical stop pins. They are made into the bottom and the 11mm dovetail doesn't have the screw at the rear of the rail. The sr. no. is 01388004 can some one tell me how to read the date and year. I know pics are worth so many words but the resizer doesn't like me right now. Or my computer doesn't like it. The trigger looks to be plactis and is T05. Gun is labeled on top of the compression tube. I'm going to call Umarex in the morning to see if they can give me more info. Dealer didn't have the box or the owners manual but at $209 I couldn't pass it up. The main spring looked dry so I gave it some Hoppe's gun oil. I figured if the spring was dry the piston seal would probably be also so I gave it some Silicone oil for bikes I got at wally world. It came with a RWS 4x36 AO scope. I hope Mike at Umarex can help me with a up to date scope mount tomorrow. It doesn't look used no scratches or dinge any where. Dealer said it har been setting there for some time and gave me a 3-9x40 high power rifle scope to go with it. I don't figure it will last very long. It has no markings except 3-9x40 right at the rear. No manufacture name or numbers. Must have been cheep. ??? :-\ I hope this thing turns out better than I'm beginning to suspect. Rickey

On the left rear side of the tube just above the stock line, by the trigger retaining pins you should see 2 two digit numbers(06 08) this is the month and year. The T-05 triggers were plastic but don't worry about it.
Do not use oil in a springer. It will cause it to diesel and/or detonate.
Your best bet for a mount is:http://www.precisionairgunsandsupplies.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=hm17021
and these low rings: http://www.opticsbestbuy.com/hawke-Match-mount.html (http://www.opticsbestbuy.com/hawke-Match-mount.html)
The base is adjustable for droop if needed and has a stop that fits over the front of the raised rail on Diana's.

-Don't see any numbers. on one side it says made in germany and DE. the other says auslandspatente. no numbers though.could the scope mount be covering it up?
-
Rick look along where the stock and the tube line is on the LH side just behing the trigger and see if you see some #'s there? :P
-
On the made in Germany side I see no numbers.or on the other side. Have had it out of stock and looked on the very rear of the tube still no numbers. Going to call Ft. Smith to see what they say.

The date of manufacture numbers are very very small. They should be to the right of the made in Germany stamp, and along the line where the wood stock edge meets steel.

look on the barrel block and mybe on the bottom side? :P

Feels like I'm on a goose chase with a magnifying glass. Called Umarex about damaged Scope rail and bad scope mount. Mike sense it didn't have a box or paperwork it might not be new but will look into getting the part I need. Life time warranty doesn't include postage to or from Ft. Smith. Not becoming a good day. Still no date maybe my magnifying glass isn't big enough. There is a good side it is grouping ok. Did well in my front room into a old phone book. Don't tell my wife she's at work.

There was talk on the DWC that Diana stopped putting a date stamp on them in the last year or so, just made in Germany DE. Also I don't know if the date stamp was when the tube was made or after final assembly.
To get you in the ball park, my Panther has a date stamp 03 08 and is 3219 before yours.
Umarex is not well liked for their support of Diana. Straight from the factory they admitted to using "outsourced" barrels and if they didn't perform they would replace. Umarex at first tried to deny the "outsource" rumour and then wanted you to ship entire gun for inspection and I believe wanted to charge for a replacement barrel.
I am sure Tom can tell you about his experience with warranty work.

Thanks I'll look at it Mike at ft smith said he would let me know something. Said he would try to get me the parts I need.
-
the stamp is there if it is a T05.
The real question is it a 8 land or 12 land barrel??? How does it group??
-
I guess it got away without a stamp. Not doing to bad with the grouping. Called Umarex about damaged scope mount and scope rail and sent some pics and because I didn't get a box and paper work with the gun they have decided it has been used. No parts but offered to send a prepaid label but won't send parts. So much for the world's best warranty and gun. Sc@#ed again. I guess I'll have to wait and get parts from PA if they have them. Don't know anything about counting lands in barrel. Rickey

Umarex is hit and miss on service.....
But what does your purchase reciept say it is new or used??
-
neither price + tax. AS far as I can tell no hit just missed. I'll try to send a msge to Germany. Probably won't do any good but I"ll feel better.
-
what is the part you are trying to get??? By the way if you do not know already the scope rail is riveted on those are NOT screws.
Lands are number of grooves in the barrel. push a pellet thru with a 1/8 wood dowel and count them or count them looking in breech or end of barrel
-
I'm not sure about the scope rail because I've never seen rivets with phillips heads on top. O well scope is not to bad for a 7x36 but will be changed. Scope mount virtical pins are not looking good, won't hold. Sounds like hole drill and tap time till I can get replacement. The thing shoots well enough but it makes a honking sound when it goes off. I suppose its the spring?? Anything that can be done about it without spending $100? You ought to see the review I gave Ft. thompson for selling a gun without telling it was used. They aren't doing well in the PR dept. Nothing wrong with the gun. Shoot like new not perfect but no gun is new. But it is consistent about what it does. Shot into a phone book in the front room and it did good. Went out side @ 30 ft. and resighted but was close. Shot at 50 ft. and was high but straight up. Just got a honk like vibration sound. O yeh no manufacture date at all.
-
The original RWS lockdown mount had pins that were pressed in and you tapped them down later they went to a mount that the pins screwed down. Not sure when they changed the design but hopefully it is an old unit with a older 8 land barrel. Many say the older 8 land barrels are better than the recent 8 land barrels.
what caliber is that one????
-
Its a 177. It had the pins that you pressed down but they looked kinda beat on the end. Its holding right now with just the one in front. I tapped the rear and put a 3/16 screw in but for some reason it didn't hold. Maybe because the screw was brass. Striped the cut threads so I have to start over again. A friend of my wife wants me to do some house work, change out I think 2 sealing fans and bath tub fixtures. You know what's going to happen to that. I know where there is a 4-12x i think 50 BSA for about 40 bucks. The rest will go on a scope mount. Rick

Sorry to hear the bad luck. Could not make out you pic. I am in Heber Springs and using the IPhone with HA service so I have no RWS to look at to try-to help. Be back late Sat night or early Sun. Shooting the PB guns for some meat. Mike should be able to help you. Take the thing back tomorrow and get your money back. I can get you one by Tuesday to your door. A gun of the same make if that is what you want.
-
I'll think and let you know. Thanks Rick
-
That thing is gone. I called Umarex to see about warranty because I didn't have the warranty card and their web site was down. I was told according to the pics I sent Umarex the gun was used and they couldn't warranty it, had a damaged scope mount and scope rail. So this morning I went back and told the mgr of the store what I had been told and I needed refund. He asked like he didn't it was used but I got it all back. Back to square 1. Rick

even with a Umarex Warranty Card its questionable on a $200 rifle that costs you 45 bucks to send it in and get it back
-
I can't find a rws m-40 when did they make them?
-
the 40 was basically just a 34 with no sights and a huge barrel wieght much like the Pros are now
Not sure what year they dropped the model
