Title: Benjamin 312
Post by: SnoValley on November 11, 2011, 12:40:12 AM
I just picked up a Benji 312 rifle in need of some TLC.
It's complete but the barrel solder joint is broken free from the muzzle back to about 8-10 inches.
The barrel isn't moving around but if you push on the front site you can make it move.
I'm not concerned about the origianl finish, it's pretty much gone.
My question is has anyone had success resoldering the barrels on these older guns?
I know it pops up now and then in regards to Sheridans and Benjis. Didn't find anything on a search.
The solder appear to soft lead type, not silver solder, Is this correct?
Could I just strip all the parts off and the ntry to sweat the barrel back to the tube?
What flux should I use?

Tim Smith of Smith Airgun Repair fixed my model 310 that had the same problem and some other stuff. He does good work.

Richard, thanks for the info. I was hoping to do the work myself. I picked it up for a song and really enjoy tinkering, so if I muck it up, I won't be too upset.
