Title: Current "Best" Choice in Hand Pump?
Post by: tm3 on May 24, 2023, 10:30:50 AM
Saw some older threads on this but am wondering if there is a current "best" pick from the China pumps on Amazon, or if it is just an eeny, meeny, miney, mo?

This will be for a P-rod.

Thanks for any help!

My brother has this one and really likes it. You won't have any issues filling a Prod with it that's for sure. Mine likes a 2600-2700 PSI fill for best consistency.

Thanks for the comments!  I'll probably go with the "4 Uncles" -- almost 1000 reviews, 4.3 overall rating, their best seller, and a personal thumbs up from here.

How about this?  Offered by a friend who is not using it.  I see no brand or other label on it, and I see no filter/desiccant anywhere.  But the price is certainly right.

Should I go ahead and try it?  Or is the lack of the filter/desiccant a no-go?

Thanks!

I think it’s fine to use

Easy to add one of the small filters like this one https://www.amazon.com/Water-Oil-Sparator-Connect-Pressure-Compressor/dp/B08ZN2YKGC/ (https://www.amazon.com/Water-Oil-Sparator-Connect-Pressure-Compressor/dp/B08ZN2YKGC/)

That reminds me of an FX Airguns pump I had years ago. I don't use filters on my hand pump but I always do my pumping indoors in the AC. I've never seen evidence of moisture in any of my pcps in over the 20 years.

Great!  I'll go ahead and give it a shot.  My house is pretty well controlled with humidity so whatever gets pumped in is probably going to be no higher than 55% or so, but I might add on the desiccant filter from Amazon anyway.

Thanks for the help!

I'm pretty sure all of the chicom pumps are the same.

This, buy the cheapest one.

Hi all. I did a search and came up 0. Is there a "best" hand pump for a 300 bar fill. I have a hill mk ? Something or other. 3 or 4 maybe. But it struggles to top up my lelya. Are there better hand pump options? Scuba and or compressors are not a viable option. Thanks all.

I have a Hill Mk5 that easily hits 250 bar but I don't have a gun that takes 300 so I can't help past that. I should probably add that I'm 6'1 and 235 pounds.

This is one of the 3 pumps I own.  I used it for refilling all my PCPs until acute arthritis affected my left elbow (brought on by marathon sessions on my rowing machine).  And by filling, I mean pumping the EdGuns to 4350 PSI, the rest of the pack to 3k.  I do have a Benjamin pump, but I cannot even remember where it is specifically.  And the 3rd pump is still in the box, unopened (same model as the other China pump).

I fill the PCPs with my GX-2, though.  Gotta love a copressor I can power off a car battery OR line voltage.
