Title: Diana P5 magnum safety
Post by: wildman510 on May 02, 2023, 10:18:22 PM
In search of the safety for the Diana P5 magnum.  Its broke.  DL airguns had it listed but canceled order saying no longer available.  Umarex could not fix it and sent it back.  Tried writing Diana and recieved no response.  Hopefully someone see this and may know of a source.  Thankyou

I did a quick search for you on German online stores, but even they don't have it listed between many Diana (P5) parts as it seems for now...

Would you happen to know the part number (from an exploded view) ?

You can search for 'Diana P5 Magnum sicherung ersatzteile'. Which stands for safety spare part.

Thanks Triggerfest.  Tried doing what you suggested.  Doesnt return any results.  On Dianas part diagram it is part 40.  Diana part number 30572500.

I got some parts from https://www.omps2.it/en/ (https://www.omps2.it/en/) recently.  They say firearm parts but if you click Diana you'll find airgun parts.  They had what I needed when it seemed nobody else did, including Umarex, Chambers, and Blue Line.  They're in Italy and shipping can be horrible - as in almost as much as the part - but they may be a source.

Thankyou fingers crossed.

So I have received an answer back from Luftgewehr-Shop and unfortunately they've mentioned that they neither Diana have the safety still on stock, or that it ever will come back again. It seems to be an obsolete part. Sorry  :-\

Sorry for your troubles. I have 3 safeties that broke. Sold the guns. The only guns I’ve ever sold.
It’s ironic, last week I mentioned some guns to a member, as a recommendation. And Toxylon slams the safeties on the Weihrauchs as second rate. Saying the Diana is much better. Altogether I’ve had 8 Diana’s, 3 with broken safeties. Also I have over 30 Weihrauch’s, not a hint of irregular performance.
I don’t know if you checked Chambers in the UK. Good luck Crow

Cant you get it to work without? The P5 was sold without safety as well. Mine doesnt have a safety. It doesnt add anything to safety anyway.

Interesting stats, Dave!

Are the broken safeties on which Diana (trigger) models, apart from the P5? Have they broken when you have used them, or have you gotten the guns with the safeties broken?

I've never had an issue with broken safeties on any of my guns. Taking the guns and the safeties apart, and using them, I have difficulty seeing how one of them could break, other than from a catastrophic drop etc.

Obviously, non-metallic parts may experience chemical breakdown over time (such as I've experienced with old spring guides and seals), but those 1970's and beyond guns don't have safeties to begin with.

The Weihrauch safety may be a more durable design than others, but hey, the pebbles on my driveway are also extremely durable.

I may have described it incorrectly. The plastic housing holding the safety cracked on all three rifles. Two were a 24 one a 34. All broke in same place. Purchased around 2000. I wish I took a picture. I’ve only sold three rifles, all three with the broken part. I don’t played basketball with my rifles, so no reason to crack. That’s my dilemma.
I must be a sucker for punishment because I still will buy Diana’s, just bought a 460 .22 this week. I have a 46 and 350 both .22 on hold. Hope this helps. Crow

Plastic housing for the safety? I have a cartwheel load of Diana springers, from c. 1960 to 2015, and none have that. BUT, I have never owned or even handled a c. 2000 Diana. That's at the start of the long-gone T05 period, of which few people have much good to say about.

I thought the T-05 trigger was supposed to be the ultimate Diana trigger?
I understand the T-06 was introduced to simplify manufacturing and NOT because it was an improvement.
However, I am  no Diana trigger expert.

Well, Hector's take is that the T05 is a lawyer's trigger, made to appease liability concerns at the cost of adjustability, while the T06 is a gunsmith's trigger, as good as or better than anything on the market. Not sure I agree, though.

Regardless of trigger action, a bunch of cracked safety housings is not exactly an endorsement.
