Title: Crosman self study
Post by: buellm2 on March 25, 2023, 05:25:39 PM
I bought my old Crosman 130 a few months ago.   It was fully functional but wouldn't hold pressure for more than a few minutes and had no power.   Got a seal kit online and installed it.   It held air but was still pretty low on power.   So today I tackled it again and after taking it apart, studying and re-assembling a few times, I started to get an idea re how the air squeezing parts worked.   The seal kit did not come with the seal which goes between the barrel and the compression tube but I found an O ring that was close enough.  On the last re-assembly I lined everything up correctly and hopefully it's the last time I have to take it apart for a while.   So now it holds air and shoots harder but sure is no magnum.  It was a good little lesson with a gun I did not much care for when I bought it.   But now that I've spent so much time inside it, I like it quite a bit more.    Anyone know what kind of velocity I should be getting?   I really need a chrony if I'm going to fix more old AGs.

Low to mid 500's, if I  remember correctly.
Ask Avator. I think he still has one.

I'd be quite pleased if I was getting 500 FPS.

Yep, 500 should be a good number.

I keep thinking I need to buy a chronograph.  Pretty sure I'll break down and buy it one of these days.  I'm sure when there's a good deal, someone will post it in the bargain gate.

Check the Bargain gate - there's usually a listing.  I won't order from Alibaba but I'll order a-zon.  For about $50 shipped you can get one.

Just - tape the cables out of the way.  I almost shot through one...
