:( :(
Well hatsan put new mod 87s on sale last week, have awsome 87 in .22 refurb thatis awsome.great velocity and accuracy .but guess what my NEW m0d 87 in .25 just did??
One shot...ONE over chrony and at target then done, just facts at me now in hatred...the one shot..hold your breath.......286fps..with jsb king....centered well on 10 yard target but foot low.suprised it went threw box.
Well if this is not my worse purchase ever,I don't know what is lol

Sounds like you have a spring conversion in your future.
-
Maybe, waiting on reply from hatsan.but I really like nitro pistons..my other 87 in .22 works great...idk...thanx for reply
-
I would wait for the response from Hatsan. A new "good" rifle with paid return for the failed one would be good customer service.
Because I'm very familiar with Hatsan rifles and work on them often, I'd want Hatsan to send me a new Vortex so I could replace it myself.
I don't think it would void warranty if you used your Hatsan fill probe and a hand pump to refill the Vortex air spring.
Only pump to the recommended ~125bar. DON'T pump it up to the MAX LIMIT of 160bar.
I think this would be a wasted effort. I doubt the Vortex was shipped empty so am pretty certain it leaked and it WILL leak again even if refilled.
FYI... conversion to a coil spring or a Crosman NP gas spring is possible but NOT simple.

Thanx mike for the advise
I deffintly do not plan to touch it till I here something for sure.im sure I could replace it but no need since there is warrenty, but we will see I guess..just tells me there vortex pistons are not reliable long term.im sure this rifle bin around in box for a good while..it's real nice looker for sure.all bolts where tight, shroud tight and stright just dead heart ❤️ lol
I have plenty of good shooters,so I'm not stressed but a little disappointed

Just as an aside, man, Don's Shatnery avatar throws one for a loop, given that it's the same image as used by a certain banned active forum member up until not too long ago...
-
:o sorry was not aware of that..just normal dude here.
-
Ok sent paid return, so we will see what comes back. I’ll definitely give them the chance to make good
-
I will be watching this thread as I just purchased (not yet received) the $99 Mod 87. Please update with your Hatsan warranty experience. Thanks.

The Mod87 is basically a Mod95 with synthetic stock. Mod95 is a really sweet bargain springer when everything is working properly. I have a Mod87 in 22cal and it is also a very nice $100 air rifle... until the Vortex air spring leaks. Then it is a $100 doorstop... or a fun repair project for strange folks like me ;-)
Hopefully Hatsan will make it right. I haven't been disappointed by their service yet so I'm betting they will step-up.

I had a 100-buck H87 .25 cal for a while, last spring. You can read my take on the gun here:

One thing that was different from the 95 (in addition to the synth stock), and a surprise to me, was the LGV-type barrel lock lever system on the 87. A nifty feature I wouldn't mind having on all of my breakbarrels.

They received, but no word yet.
Bin shooting my edge .25 with the jab kings. Does pretty good as long as I take my time on the trigger.the edge pushes these 25 trainers at 600fps so hope 87 can do the same or more when it returns..anybody hunt with this combo? I haven’t popped anything with it yet. So any first hand ex be great.

I shot a possum with a .25 Striker at 15 yards 1 shot to the head did it.

Hatsan came threw!!!
Only 10 days there and back..
Works as she should now.everything tight and smooth.replaced piston and seal.Good and strong now 25g jsb 620fps and in only 50rds minute of 1.25 flipper at 25yards.will try other pellets after couple 100 more shots.
But as of right now VERY happy with the gun and the service..hope everybody's experience will be as great as mine..
Thanx for following.

Just picked up an orphan 87 in 1/4 in bore at a gun show... needed love but it shoots, said the seller. she cleaned up nice but was shooting at 500 fps with the 19 gr pellets, and sometimes at 550, 560, then back down to 500. I wanted it to be that low as i want a .25 that shoots under 12 fpe for rat hunting... but i guess my ram is leaking... and it may need a seal. How hard is it to change this gun to a coil spring?

Check breech seal and go inside to check piston seal first. Large velocity swings are a usually a bad seal in my experience.
If seals are good and vortex air spring is leaking the vortex can be refilled/rebuilt(new o-rings).
Last resort is coil spring conversion. Start here...
