I've never worked on the 55 but from what I've seen in pic's it looks like the same disassembly as a R1, and if so its not that hard to do! have you had it out of the stock? :P

i bookmarked the schmetrics page . it looks like 2 pins have to be removed befor the end will screw out when helt in a compressor i think i have a way to compress my gun i have some long screw clamps that are adjustable for lenght then use the screw to press with i can make a holding fixture so to hold it steady while pressing on it. now where is the best place to buy a rebuild kit or parts for it ? had to leave here and go fix my neighbors d-6 cat he was in distress . now back to air power

found parts for her at air guns of arizona. they were real nice and knowlageable . and im starting to make a compressor . but has anybody tried auto body undercoating ?it comes in an areosol can dries in 4 hours ,its like tar slick and you can put on light coats . i was thinking about using some on the main spring as its durable ,stays on clean metal well

I have only use JM lubes. I have never seen anything better yet. IMHO he has perfected AG lubes.

Robert, You wont need to make a spring compressor for the 55, I've worked on them and their springs aren't under much compression as per HW 80's etc you can unscrew the end by hand with no fear of it flinging out and upon reassembly easy to guide back in by hand, these guns were designed for ten metre target work at about 640fps, be careful when tapping out the trigger unit pins, some older guns they're really stuck in hard so get the correct parallel pin punch. I wouldn't use moly on the spring, it's messy too thin and not ideal for leather piston guns, spray on lubes believe it or not are infact excellent Venom Arms used to use motorcycle chain lube because of it's anti-fling properties they'd spray the springs and let dry before inserting them, I'm not sure about auto body undercoating as I don't know it's properties but an extreme temp, extreme pressure, with anti fling lithium based grease is ideal for the 55's power range, it's clean and is a better lube for leather.

i have ordered all new leather and breech seal ,and main spring was wonderig about lube on mainspring as it doesnt have anything showing .it dont viberate when you shoot it but the piston seal is slowly going bad i put some leather oil in the chamber let it run down around the seal for 2 days it shot better but dieseled like i thought it would but got to shoot some paper and set her back up those leather seals last when oiled up occasionaly but i got it cheep and who knows what it went through befor i got her. it looks fine condition but age comes into play .a little tlc goes a long way but thanks for all help now when the parts get here and its rainy im gonna tear into it and getter done
