Title: Diana 460 piston seal recommendations
Post by: Kragman1 on February 24, 2023, 07:23:41 PM
OK, so I'm finally getting around to the dud 460 refurb I got from Pyramyd.
I have a couple of different breech seals, and I happen to have a new OEM spring.  I'm about to order a piston seal but I have no idea who makes "the good one".  Looking for good quality and durability, not a power boost.  If they coincide, well that would be a happy coincidence.

You all are some experienced, savvy tuners and shooters, so if anyone has a recommendation, please do so on this thread.

FYI, it's a T06 if that matters.

I actually like the original Diana seal.  My second choice would be one by Air Rifle Headquarters.  Vortek seals can be fine but they have different types so you need to choose carefully among their offerings.

Diana makes the good one.

Again, they also can be different sizes from Diana, check to see if the factory seal has the size stamped on it!

The DIANA seal in current production/spec was introduced into the line more than 3 decades ago.
There are MILLIONS of seals out there doing a proper work. And the experience shows that they are among the best seals for the DIANA architecture.
The ONLY "caveat" is to be judicious with the power level. Even the best material fatigues and suffers when subjected to repeated, heavy, dieseling.
The 460 does NOT need a cross-hashed compression chamber.
Let it work in the "pop-gun" mode and you will have a long-lasting/powerful enough combination.

Ah! and currently they are only made in 3 sizes:
For the pistol and the diminutive "youth guns"
For the old Giss guns
For all the rest of the rifles

Don't worry about the size.

Good luck and keep us posted!
