Title: Almost ready to pull the trigger on a Taipan
Post by: PasadenaMike on February 19, 2023, 11:15:14 AM
I have a Taipan Long with the grey laminate stock in the cart in .22 almost ready to check out. Any thoughts before I make it happen hopefully?

You will find that the regulator needs a few hundred shots to settle in as it will act like a scatter gun at first use.

I have one and it took me ~1,500 rounds before it finally settled in. IIRC it is a common problem.

Other than that, it's not a bad gun.

Good luck.

I would very much like one but in rifle form.

I thought they were coming out with one but it’s a forward lever version instead for 2023.

I like everything about the Taipan except its being a bullpup.

That would be very awesome. A traditional rifle Taipan

Nothing at all wrong with the bullpup format.
Much of what you hear is from folks that either haven't even shot one, or that just don't understand them for some reason.
Most all of my guns are of the bullpup design.  I see nothing different about them from my non-bullpup guns, one being a higher end, an American Air Arms, EVOL, Mini .22.

My Taipan, Veteran, Compact is a nice gun.  NOT a fan of the rear cocking lever, but no, I'm not buying the newer design just for the lever being moved forward.

Taipans get fewer complaints than any other PCP out there.

They are known for boring accuracy, even in .177 at 80+ yards.

They have incredible triggers- usually conjuring words like "match grade"

They are quiet without any need for aftermarket expenditure.

And on a personal note, they were BARELY nudged out of my first choice by the Leshiy Classic when I opted to buy a higher end airgun.  I still intend to own a Mutant some day.

Was super close to buying a standard when I saw Tony’s sale on them. I hesitated as he only had 25 cal left and in the standard length I wanted 22. I have a Maverick compact inbound now instead. Will post up on gta how it goes.

I'd be real interested in a review of the forward cocking model. Seems cocking position was the only complaint these guns get.

If I was the OP I'd try to wait and see how the new Veteran is
