Title: Crosman Pellmaster 700
Post by: lizzie on November 05, 2011, 02:17:26 PM
This is one I picked up in a swap shop a few weeks ago. I usually don't buy any gun that I can't use, but this is a C02 gun, and as far as I know, uses obsolete cartridges, but I thought it was a pretty cool gun anyway. Years of manufacture for this model were 1967-1971.

Yeah- I think it is. The only wear seems to be on the butt of the stock- looks like someone bought it and set it in the closet for years, lol.

If it uses 8 gram cartridges they are still available. They are sold as soda and seltzer cartridges.Amazon has them or do a Google search.

I just checked the owners manual on the Crosman website.Cartridges are listed as Crosman giant powerlets.Google search for those showed 12 gram and 12.5 gram powerlets.Have you tried a standard Crosman 12 gram powerlet?

No- haven't tried them, as I know very little about C02 guns. Thanks for the info Ken- I'll have to check into that and see if it's a shootable gun. :)

lizzie, you may just have to get an updated powerlet seal if the valve seals to the powerlet. if its a sealed air tube you shouldnt have any problems though iirc

Lizzie here are the parts diagram and the owners manual links from Crosman

Not sure what a "Giant" co2 cartridge is, this one will take some research!

OK, heres a pic of the 12.5 gram "Giant" powerlets and a link to the Ebay site they are on  http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-CROSMAN-GIANT-GOLDEN-POWERLETS-12-5-CO2-UNUSED-/120769906829 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-CROSMAN-GIANT-GOLDEN-POWERLETS-12-5-CO2-UNUSED-/120769906829)

Depending on the seal shape/size, I'm guessing that a 12 gram modern powerlet could be used with a spacer (if neccesary) to accomodate any difference in length? You would need to measure length, O.D. and compare the sealed (crimped) tops of both old and new styles to determine what could be done.

Well, for the old ones, it's really not that many:
