This week a good friend gave me a .177 Beeman RX, West Germany, Santa Rosa which was submerged in 5 feet of water during a SETX biblical flood.
He sent the barrel/action/mechanical part of it for a rebuild/reseal/refurb, but the stock hasn't been refinished.
I inspected it and carefully lubed it. It shoots well, but I haven't shot it through the chrono yet.
Since he's a master luthier and woodworker, I tried to give it back to him to refinish and hang on his wall.
He insisted I keep it.
My plan it to strip the finish and oil it with Howard's Feed'N'Wax which has worked well on my guitar bodies and other inexpensive rifle stocks.
I've removed the barrel "compensator" and the scope and I cold blued the receiver and barrel which came out ok to my conservative expectations.
Guess I'll keep it.
What's your suggested stripping product? Citristrip?
I've only used the old school "Strypeeze", so I'm all ears.
Much appreciated
I'm also looking for a two-wheel howitzer-type carriage with which to more it around. :P

This has the potential to be a beautiful air rifle, congrats on the find!
I've only ever used the Circa 1850 furniture stripper, with great results on many types of finishes: https://www.amazon.com/Circa-Furniture-Stripper-185001-Quart/dp/B002MYIL0S/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 (https://www.amazon.com/Circa-Furniture-Stripper-185001-Quart/dp/B002MYIL0S/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8)
Currently unavailable on Amazon, but you'll easily find it at many other places.
Please post pics when you're done :D.

i have used Citristrip for lots of prodgects and have no compaints.

Thanks, is it possible I may have to just hand sand the remaining finish from this stock?
Gee, I hope not.
But it is what it is.

i recently redid a crosman 120 ( thread is on here somewhere? ) and i used the Citristrip on it a light wash sand and hit it with some linseed oil

Thanks, I'm trying a generic strip from my local hardware store.
Letting it work right now.
If necessary I will try Citristrip next.

Update: it's working well and removing what little finish remained
Today I plan to begin sanding and prepping the stock for the final step.
Thanks for all your advice.

Time to start sanding

as far as I'm taking it
It spent a while under 5 feet of water and lives to shoot again.
pellet test and chrono next

Thanks, here's another picture.
It's a "10 footer", ;)
After we test pellets, I'm going to gift it to my stepson who lives in varmint country in Mississippi.
