Title: FX Royale - 40 yard groups
Post by: Rico14 on November 04, 2011, 09:27:16 PM
I had a little time this afternoon to shoot the Royale 400. I didn't have as much time as I wanted, but I managed to shoot two 40 yards groups. The Royale is noticeably lighter than the Indy, and balances well, even with the Huggett moderator, which adds 1" to the length of the stock Royale. The Huggett is made in the UK and has made the Royale really quiet. It's as quiet, if not more so, than my Indy. There's a picture of the Huggett in my thread below, so I won't add another one here. The Royale was filled to 200 BAR when I unpacked it yesterday and I took a couple of shots before it got dark and put it away. This afternoon, I shot it about 12-15 times, then set up a target at 40 yards. I didn't adjust anything before I shot the groups. I pellets were JSB 15.9. The first group is 6 shots, and the second group is 12 shots, the entire magazine. There was some wind when I shot, but it wasn't too bad. I'm pleased with these two groups right out of the box and when I get more time, I'll shoot more groups and a couple at 50 yards. I'm not much of a target shooter, as I'd rather see my targets fall out of a tree or roll over on the ground.  ;D ;D

Rico14,
Does your FX Royale have the Lothar Walther barrel or the smooth twist?

smooth twist. My Indy has the smooth twist and it shoots like a laser. So far, the Royale looks like it will be the same way.

Thanks for the info.  My Royale 400 has the Lothar Walther is a great shooter if the wind is light.  It makes me wonder if the smooth twist has better wind resistance than the LW barrel due to the slower twist rate.

I haven't shot the Royale that much yet, but I can take out starlings with the Indy at 55 yards in a decent breeze. My friends are amazed by the accuracy of the Indy. I haven't shot an AG with a LW barrel, so I can't compare the two.
