Hi Bob,
I just received my very first .25 gun....
So, now I'm looking into projectiles.A .25 wadcutter sounds like a close range pesting dream.
The NOE mold webpage declares the "estimated BC" to be 0.0312, for a 22gr wadcutter.
Does that appear to be unusually high?
What do you think about wadcutter BC's, and NOE estimates of BC?
Cheers, Matthias

Not sure about the BC, but I did shoot some out of my regulated bottle Jet1 in .25, 510 FPS and seem to be a good close range pesting / target option. Will shoot some for groups today may set up 2 cronies and get a BC for 10 m .

I've pretty much given up on this mold. My Bandit is the only gun I have that shoots it well. The 27 grain meplat hunter is a much better choice in my opinion. It's a great pellet that hits hard and shoots well in all my 25s.

Here is another 25 cal WC design, a 3-4 slit on the open end of the nose
would make a great short range pellet, imho.

I have that one too. It's a hammer and shoots better than the 22 grain wadcutter. It's more accurate shooting it as a hollow base instead of a hollow point, but that big meplat doesn't care. It smacks hard either way.

I am not Bob but yes that does sound about right... as an optimistic estimate.. ;) and actual measured B.C. would probably be about .027 or so at about 700 fps and below...
look at it this way... SD= M/D2
you are starting with a SD of .05 so even with the bad form factor of a wadcutter you end up not really bad on the bc...
here is some of Bobs testing from back in 2012... notice the BC of the most similar pellet... The Polymags...

I was actually shooting Polymags alongside the NOE wc and saw similar performance, No crony work at range as my other one is left @ work.

What if we call them recycle bins? I'm pretty sure Al designed this mold for .25 acp. I size them down to .250 and recycle them for airgun use. ;D

Being on the west coast and seeing they come in 2 cavity and up... was thinking of calling them the BB's... BASH BROTHERS.. 8)

I have plans to 4 link the rear with coil overs F/R then a spicy 5.3LS I wont be happy unless I have over 400hp at the tires.

I call those 25 cal WC >FFP >Flying Fry Pans, as the act like that when they smack a Hosp/Starling > SPLAT..............LOL ;) and a big feathered rainbow is all that's left.
I would love to have a 22 cal in the same design.......... ;) YMMV
-
The only .25s I have are my Mrods one stock one with a 10lb hammer spring and mild porting...about 45 fpe and 60 fpe tunes...
Both send the only pellets I cast into bout .75" groups at about 45 yards... the NOE 34g Meplat Mags... and yep with the big meplat they hit HARD... have not seen a measured bc for them... estimated is .0465... now that seems really high...
I have a feeling that because of the longer skirt it will be down about .03... I think H&N claims .027 for the 6.5 grain lighter but similar .25 Cuda Hunters...
the rest of my molds are for Boolits and it will probably stay that way...

Think that is a very good idea... things got a bit squirrrrrrrly at times with the HP and the stockish suspension.. ;)
