Title: New FX Royale in .177 with smooth twist barrel
Post by: MP44 on November 03, 2011, 09:22:29 PM
The .177 Royale from AoA and an order of pellets from Pyramyd was waiting for me when I got home. I didn't have much daylight left so I had to rush to get everything set up. My intentions were to get it shooting close to POA then fine tune and do pellet testing tomorrow.

FPE output is 20.5.

For those curious about the noise, the Royale is very quiet ( and this is coming from someone who owns a FX Independence which is considered one of the most quiet airguns for its power )

The three, three shot groups below were shots 2-10 out of the rifle straight out of the box without barrel cleaning and only a quick inspection of the CPHs when loading the mag. Also, the groups were right after hand pumping the 400cc bottle from 160 to 200bar.

Range was a lasered _35yds_

I fired a single shot, adjusted the Muelller APT, then fired these three:

I made a minor scope adjustment then shot the group on the left ( tack was to show size, I was a little excited about the first and wasn't taking my time but even then it is a 3/8" ) another couple of clicks then the 3rd on the right.

While three, three shot groups do not prove anything, I can go to bed not wondering what I have to do to get my new rifle to group.

More to come....

Id say you have nothing to worry about on your choice of guns.

Any JSB pellet groups good as does H&N Baracuda Match 10.65gr.  It all depends on the distance I am shooting and the wind.  More distance or wind the heavier pellet I use.  I especially like the JSB Monster Heavy 13.43gr.  I love it when I shooting two or three pellets and only having one hole!!!  I wash all my pellets then lube them with KryTech.  I clean the barrel every 100-150 rnds.  At least that works in my Royale 400.  As far as FPE, I am running 19 and up depending on pellet weight.

Congrats on your new Royale.

I have already traded it for another .22 FX Independence. The Royale was a great rifle but the Indy is my all time favorite.

I plan on running my original Indy at full power and the new one at 17fpe.

I like my Indy a lot too, sometimes I have a problem deciding between the Indy and the Royale when I go to shoot
