Title: 1st pcp and pump
Post by: rabbitguy on November 03, 2011, 03:15:58 PM
I am thinking of getting the Evanix rainstorm .22cal ( first PCP ).
Which pump would you recommend?

For the Rainstorm I'd reccomend a Hill pump. I used a benji pump when I had my rainstorm
And that was not pleasurable. I've never heard a bad thing about the Hill

id get the disco with pump as a entry level pcp and pump... anything over a disco id deff be thinking tank setup

but the hill pump has a 3 and 4 stage pumping.. the 4stage pumping will take more pumps but it will get easier

Great choice for a 1st PCP. Hill would be a great Pump until you chose a fill set-up.

I have used the Hill for around a year now, it does need a good cleaning an maybe new Oring's(a rebuild), but then it has been used almost daily so I would say a very good pump over all.

Pumping even the Biggest Air Hogs is no problem at all, for a Rainstorm is a real piece of cake

Another Hill vote.

Have used an FX for many years..on  aguess the pump is 10 years old or older. Finally died, and i have to say the rebuild process is NOT as easy as a Hill.  Had one Hill pumps during that time as well... need a rebuild more often, but are easier .

Finally decided to replace the FX ()think i can rebuild it, but right now am having a *(&^ of a time with one pinned in part).

Ordered a 2nd Hill.  This one was ordered WITHOUT the dry pac.  First one has the dry pac system, and I am unimpressed by any test I can perform....so avoided the expense for something that my personal tests showed didn't  work well enough to justify.

Looking on-line, and finding a good price...then a discount coupon...got this last Hill a couple of months ago for $205 (INCLUDING shipping) from Mid Way.

If you can get 4500 PSI fills skip the pump and get a SCBA tank.  makes shooting alot more fun for sure.

I started with a pump on a CZ200 122CC air tube and quickly switched to a SCBA tank

It was Hill pump they work well and are easy to reseal when needed

Disco .22 is awesome. With Gen II Brake, Mac1 Prep and Pump it is $485. Hill is a better pump so if you buy gun only is is $335 no pump.

I followed the advice given and went with a hill also. Great pump. I searched alot of places and could not find any negative reviews. I am happy so far with mine. Little steep on the price but ya get what u pay for. And it does not come with any adapters so you will have to buy what ever hooks up to your gun.

When I had my Hill and wanted to reseal it the orings are available easily in a kit.  I emailed Hill with a question and they responded they would call me(from UK) and walk me thru it if needed.  So support is there for sure

Midway USA has the BSA pump on sale and the BSA site says its made by Hill so if you want to save $50, thats a good way.

If you didn't already you should put that Midway Sale tip in Bargain Gate
