I ordered a four cavity 217-30-FN-BJ5 mold with the say discount arrangement.
One more off the list.  Now I need a .22 cal wadcutter, .30 bbt, and .35 bbt, and I will have a complete set of current molds.

I snagged a 4 cav aluminum .217 boattail mold this morning before the savings ran out. interested to see what barrel I have in .22 cal impact this round takes to.

Dan those are one of my favorites, they shoot good out of the gun that you see in my signature, also Mrods and most of the old Crosman built barrels and possibly the new ones that are built in house ???  They also work perfect in
my Airmax Dominator, but the guns built by Alta Vista are way too tight.

This was recovered from a large chipmunk @25yds, it went from head to tail.

mine has arrived and the .22 boattail mold in aluminum runs smooth like butter casting. shot a few through the impact. chambering is a touch rough. can feel the bands on the slug as it chambers. HMMMmmm, may have to run a few through the .218 sizing die. accuracy and weight consistency are awesome as always from this mold. .2 gr variance on a 4 cavity. Wahoo.

Down range this slug hits 1/2 to a 1/4 mil left of where the 218-25-RF-D6 is zeroed at. the slug stacks up and groups great at 32 yd zero. this is with unsized and un-lubed slug.
ok just checked by running one through sizing die. the rear band on this mold dropping at .219"- .220". there is just the slightest hint of sizing marks on the rear edge of the nose. thats awesome to see for me as i like mine to drop fat for resizing and truing. i'm also seeing about 28.5 gr weight average with pure lead.

I wonder if this is the new specs that Bob had proposed to Al on this 217-30-FN-BJ5. if it is I'm happy.

Dan that 217-30-FN spec's are the same as the original ones, they're an excellent shooting BBT too.

These are the original BBT's, the tooling for the new ones is not yet done....

I see that now. I should have looked at the spec drawing before posting. either way it is just what I was hoping for size wise. I can easily size down to .218". My .22 cal liner seems to prefer the .218 size.

Dan I've never tried shooting the BBT's at a high velocity and they seem right at home in the Mid 800fps range, they're all I shoot out of a couple of guns, the one in my signature and my SPA M16 (Airmax Dominator).
The Airmax Dominator is definitely un choked however when I asked Mike Melick he said the Sentry is slightly choke but I couldn't feel any choke when I pushed a round through the barrel so if they're choked
it's very little.  They really are accurate slugs though.

current tune on my impact is shooting these at 890 fps average @ 44 degrees. I'll do another speed check once it warms up more here.

Does NOE email shipping notifications? I ordered several days ago but haven’t seen anything. I’m not in a hurry at all, just wondering.

Go into your email and look for the order confirmation,  there should be a USPS tracking number.

Bob or anyone else,
Has Al given you any information about a 20 NOE mold, that might be in the works,
similar the longer 22 caliber molds?
I want and need one before I go under............. ;)

By any chance do you have a diagram for a 20?

Tia,
Don

The .177 and .20 cal are in the works.... The .20 cal will be the same lengths, diameters scaled up to .20 cal, and weight 19-20 gr.... Tooling not done yet....

He is currently working on a .224 cal BBT, and the plan is to also produce a flat base version (0.090" shorter, no boattail, about 31-34 gr.).... Tooling done.... HP available too....

Eddie I just tried getting on their website but couldn't big !!404!! fault.  If you're going to get hold of them any time soon you'll have to call him.  Most every time that I"ve called he's answered is his phone, I usually tried making it 9am-10am his time.

Hi Bob will he be offering some sizing inserts to go with the new Caliber just .176 thru .178 would probably be enough... heck even just .176 could be opened up easier than the .172 inserts... probably could use the .172 push rod..?  oops wait... I take that back the L.W. non choked are .182 groove ::) :-[.

Once again, I have a gut feeling about twist rate... have a feeling it will do fine stability wise in my 1:19 twist Buccaneer... even if it does not... decking the boat tail just a touch would fix it...

am referring to the .177 BBT...

Kirby the BBT's are really nice slugs, I got a fox squirrel this morning with the gun in my signature that I never use anything but the BBT's in since I bought and modified it.

First time on the forum in a while, what's the word on that .224 bbt? Is there a thread on it somewhere I can bookmark? Very interested, just wish the front band was .225 to allow for a better fit

The rear band, which is what seals, is 0.225".... As long as the back of the head is larger than the land diameter, it will keep the slug straight, which is all that is required of it.... The reason I make it the nominal groove diameter is to ease loading.... Even then, some barrels (eg. .22 LR) may require sizing the slug to fit....
