Title: Polymag Predator for Mrod
Post by: arthury on October 31, 2011, 12:10:33 AM
Since I bought my mrod .25, I have been having lots of good experiences with Czech Republic made JSB Exact King round nose. They are very accurate on paper targets and has excellent knock down momentum on live targets. Lately, I bought a tin of Polymag Predator just to try out.

Usually, I test out new ammo on paper first and I am impressed with the new Polymag Predator. They are just as accurate as the JSB and for birds and smaller games, they are just as effective. I have not tried it on rabbits yet so, that one is an unknown to me.

Just reporting about my experiences ...

I'll say this about that. Rabbits are probably the easiest critter there is to kill. ANY pellet can do it. Predators are FAR more than up for the task.

I wish my gun could shoot Polymags :-\
Do you think squirrels are harder to kill over rabbits?

You can scare a rabbit to death, but squirrels are one of the toughest critters going.

I'll vouch for that...rabbits aren't much of a challenge..squirrels are a different story.

as long as you have the accuracy and ft lb you can get them. gotta be an eye or ear shot

I can vouch for the squirrels being tough. I've shot them in the head before, just barely missing the eye and brain and had them take of running where I couldn't find them. A real good heart and lung shot will also drop them dead pretty quick, but it has to be a good shot. ;)

I switched from head shots to neck shots for squirrels.

i really like the polymags for the smaller stuff like nutters and rabbits, once i get into the bigger game like, possum, coon, or chucks i've had better results using a conventional domed style pellet. i use the the crosmans almost exclusively as ive got loads of them and don't have any 22 calibers that wont shoot them well!

neck/chest shots for me on nutters also moving up to 25 caliber

I have a .25 Mrod and just received some Predators the other day. I am very pleased with them! They are as accurate as the JSB Kings to 35yds (havent tested any further yet). For my Mrod it likes the Benjamin domed Pellets just a little bit more. It shoots the Barracudas really good too, just havent taken them out to longer than 25yd yet.

Squirrels are a PITA sometimes. Yesterday I shot one with the predators at about 20yd, heart/lung shot. He froze for a sec and then took off running up a tree. I couldnt get another shot at him till about 5min later when he shifted over a bit. He was still barely alive. Sent another one at him and ended it. Took a look to see what happened, 2 perfect heart lung shots. Exit hole (Both exited the same spot) was complete devastion, dont know how he survived the first one, if you call it that.

IDK if it pertains to the .25 Mrod, but I didnt have to modify my clip either, they went in no problem.

I've shot 1 squirrel with my 25 mrod. It was a 40 yard headshot and he never twitched. In one side, out the other.
