I was out back shooting last week ;D and usually after I knock down all the targets, I just set the rifle down, go set them up again and start blasting away. Well a couple of times [ 3 ] I reloaded, then went to set them up again.When I came back, I forgot that I reloaded. I grabbed the rifle and slapped the barrel to cock it and needless to say there was no tension on the spring, so it slammed open :o Could this bend a barrel? I did it 3 times on my Winchester 1000SB. I wasnt hitting that much that day so I don't know it it shoots different. I was shooting so bad that day Ray Charles could have out shot me at night with his sunglasses on. [Sorry Mr. Charles, I love you man.]I will shoot it today to see how it goes, but could that cause damage? I hope not...

I would not think so Vinny(unless you slapped the snot out of it) an I got to say(the insructor in me)please get out of the habit of loading your gun an walking away. Weapon's are like that old saying "two type's of biker's those that have layed one down an those that WILL lay one down". So far in my life I've had 1 bike down(rain) an 2 door jam's 1 toilet by A.D.'s(two my fault one weapon just fell off couch) I have been lucky so far an no one was hurt(well mr. toilet did'nt fair well 12ga. double 00,But in my defense the toilet was stoned to the bone when it attacked me), just some advice from a old gun crank Bro. I'd HATE to see you or someone else hurt.

Yes Sir,I cut that bad habit off real quick! I will only load before a shot.

I'm not sure if this thread is about loading a pellet way before you shoot.
I learned not to do that when I was a kid,the stupid way. :-[
Me and some friends wanted to know what it felt like to fire your airgun against your hand with just air .
Well, I didn't shoot just air ::), I shot a pellet through my hand. :o
