Interesting, I've never seen a smooth flat top breech before that I can remember.

Look at the figure in that wood! 8)
David,
1968 - Two change
• Grooves removed from the Receiver (now smooth flattop receiver). (Mar 1968 - Feb 1978)
• Curved bolt handle now welded to bolt.
1972 - Two changes
• Stamped Serial numbers introduced ( 000001 - 025650). (Apr 1972)
• Hole in bolt handle made shallow (1972–1974)
but then..
1975 - One change. Serial numbers ( 100780 - 141460)
• Hole in bolt handle eliminated.
The seller states "The date on the postage August 1974" and that fits.

Can anyone see the date code better than I?
Looks like 7-10 to me... so that would be Oct of 77?

The blue streak dates to 1972 - first year with a serial number
the silver streak dates to 1977 - several years into serial numbers,
by 1977 Sheridans were no longer stamped 'blue streak' or 'silver streak' on the left side, so the gun in the auction is definitely not a 1977.
the backwards date stamp on the receiver reads - from right to left: someunknown letter, then 197, then a number that I can't see at all.
So the date of the gun in the ebay auction must be 1970 or 1971.
but yes, beautiful gun!

As already said beautiful gun…anybody have an idea what a super grade cost when new back in the day….I would imagine its the holy grail now….

Looks like a new Sheridan A cost $56.50 back in 1948 - which would be almost $700 in todays dollars. I wish I could find one for that price!!!!!
