Today a thought came to me. Thinking of myself a young boy many years ago with a Powerline 880, and thinking to today my 9yr old boy with his/mine) ;D DP880 and how it must feel massive yet light enough to work.
Now Imagine holding a 48"oal Mega Pumper in .22 and or .25. Made in the design of the 880, everything enlarged < the barrel trigger valve assembly, pumptube piston and pumparm. Shroud with barrel support, frontsight with built in LDC/Moderator. Stock and foream made with high density polymers instead of cheap plastic, aluminum reciever, picrails. Not that i could build auch a thing. Just a cool idea I think. :P

Not exactly what you described but I converted a Crosman 362 to 25 caliber. It's putting out around 17 fpe with nothing but a barrel swap and an enlarged transfer port.
-
Wouldnt that make it a C365< .25cal.
Thats cool. I did find while looking, window shopping, online the .25 breech for the Crosman. Though am unable to find a 1/2"dia barrel. Might get another 362 to turn into a .177 w a disco barre lif i feel like it, maybe when its winter and dont have much to do.
My idea is 880 or 77 setup except Everything enlarged by 33percent < Pump tube, piston, pumparm, trigger valve barrel.
Another thing that brought about this idea was holding the tiny U Embark at 35" and 4lbs then holding my H125 at 48" around 8 lbs.
The Mega pumper would/should make 24 -30 < +/- ft lbs > or more, on this non existant Airgun.
-
a few years ago there was a guy on here who built a bigger pumper. actually, there may have been a couple/few guys back then who were building pumpers.
there was one that was supposed to go into production I thought. I think it was a side pumper with a huge piston.

There was another one that had a scissors type 2 handle pump.

Yep, C365 it is. I could probably squeeze out some more power with a different valve, but I'm pretty happy with at this power level.

I may convert my 362 to 25 caliber.
It’s definitely got some power now @ 25 fpe but not accurate enough for me.
-
Ok so why the 880 setup. A few reasons come to mind, ease of pumping with the long pump arm. Easy to disassemble reassemble. Accurate like, holy moly thats accurate. Im sure a enlarged C362 version would work aswell, though the pumping effert would be something else?
EdinGa i say 17 ftlbs is great. This year i thought of getting a breakbarrel .25 thumper, pushing 20-24 ftlbs for close range shots on larger "prey". By close i mean less than 20-25yards. So maybe a C365 might be in my future if i think of it long enough, though w the parts would cost more than the .25 breakbarrel. <but hey i love my C362. Im sure id love a C365.
Backroads, thats an interesting AG, though it being single stroke, i wonder what kind of fps fpe theyd get using one. Didnt watch the whole video.
PSIPumper. 25ftlbs :o wow thats alot from a pumper. Thats a tad more ftlbs than my U Elite .22.

Unless the 33% larger version was efficient it wouldn’t make 40% more power.
I really like the late model 392. I have several of those up to 40 fpe.
That with a 24 inch length .25 barrel would be over 50 fpe.
Would take some work but I may get to it one day.
-
Wowow 40 ftlbs :-X thats some HeatRightThere.
Yeah im sure more than 24-30ftlbs in an XL would be acheivable surpassable. With .25 at 27.5gr around 900fps and 49ftlbs that would be some RealAirPower.

I married a Winnie 1977 with a Daisy 822......Made a 1922.
Longer pump , dual O-ring piston , dual O-ring bolt from 1977
Valve body, metal receivers , from 822
Brownell .22 barrel liner.
Wood stock, hand made wood forearms.
Nice marriage...except....plastic pump handle.

Member plawler has made a metal pump arm.........
Not totally what you seek, but an interesting rifle.

Hey Ronno thats very cool DW778822? < err 1922xs > I like how you got a crosman .22 barrel to fit the action. Ive wanted a Win77xs for awhile now though theyv been OOS forawhile now at PA. Last year i took a 880 that had the right side of the crown missing, i cut the barrel and shroud to 16" and recrowned and cut a slot for the front sight to fit. . It was nice though wouldnt group as good as the newer 880. Was loud with 10 pumps, esp loud w double pell shots and 12 pumps. This year i was over ambitious on opening the Valve and port that the plunger plug wouldnt fit to hold air. Thats now extra parts. Yay parts. ;D

Not a Crosman barrel, a Brownell .22 short barrel liner. (That was the other guy...the OP)A Daisy 822 barrel would be better...the Brownell liner is a touch large, but, with the right pellets it works....
Now, the Winnie 77XS differs from the 1977XS..... the 77 is basically an 880........the 1977 has a longer pump and different internals... higher
pressure...
-
Thank you Ronno for the info. I tried searching results on 77xs vs 1977xs and couldnt find the right answer. Some said theyre the same while others say the 1977 has the double oring pumphead and gets more power. So thats good to know. Hard to find a 1977xs except tractorsupply and academy.
NVak
-
Interesting thing is, Academy continued to call the 1977 by the earlier 977,
Check the specs........if the muzzle velocity is 1000fps, it IS the 1977 regardless of what it is called by the vendor.
I am not sure if the 1977 replaced the 977 or of both are currently available.
The 1977 pump frame and arm are about 1" longer, and the pump linkage pivot hole was relocated.
The best thing is............no more elastomer spring!!!!

Ronno6
Ive been interested in the 1977 for awhile now. Though what put me on pause on acquiring one was that Its a little confusing that "they" made two AGs that look exactly alike, with nearly the same model name. I find 2 different models the 1977xs model 1977-001 rated 1000, and there is the 77xs model 1977-402 rated 800. Ive made 25 yard headshots with the 880 ironplastic sights and good pellets. With the right pellets and scope I could reach a little further if i get a 1977-001, also helps having abit more fps/fpe. Lately Ive been thinking of more power in .22 < BentrailNPXL and or the RAM, buts thats a different story altogether.

I believe it was Rob on here that built a custom 880 based rifle that used a bigger bore pump tube for more volume and power. Not sure what caliber he used though. I'll see if I can find the thread.

That would be a great read if you found the thread. Being from Alaska there are somethings that i am unable to order. A few things that cant ship to Alaska include; CO2 Cartidges, Seneca Aspen multipump< not that i want one but a cool idea though, PB Ammunition, the list goes on and on.. also I pay for alot of shipping. Shipping 1 Airgun that cost $ 150 from a company i shall not name, comes with 85$ of shipping< through fedexground... fedground takes FOREVER to deliver to Alaska. Another good AG store would charge me $ 40 for the 1st gun then additional $ 25 for each AG added. Most of the time "Free Shipping" doest always work,, some honor the free shipping statement, though more often than not its not FreeShipping. Also shipping times are Slow, get lucky if you get a package in 1 week, less fortunate when you wait over a month for some items to get in. At the moment i am still waiting on JSB 13.4gr and 14.3gr along woth HN B15s. These were ordered 5 weeks ago. < was fortunate to recieve my C362 in less than two weeks, the CrosmanDrifter took 5 weeks to get here < got in yesterday >
Ok enough on the redonk-ulous shipping prices and waiting times i must endure :P
Somebody here must have what is needed to build a XL Multipump,.

Sounds like an American Tactical Nova Freedom which was a PCP rifle with a built in 3 stage pump. It was very powerful for a pumper and the 3 stage pump made it relatively easy to pump despite the high operating pressure.
-
UnderPressure,
American Tactical Nova Freedom is a very cool Airgun. 70 pumps to get 3600 PSI and get 30-40 shots, two stage regulator.. cool. Theres also the Seneca Aspen and Nova Multipump Multishot.
Digging around in GTA youll find Rsterne with his Modified Crosman Multishot Power Pumpers, and Pbawler s work on Daisy Powerline High HorsePower Pumpers. These two guys do some Excellent Work in Modding.
I do some work on both Crosman And DPs. Crosmans, align Valve to Tranferport, open ID and ends of TPSleeve, shim barrel on both ends, shim rearsight, modflow the Bolt, shim Bolt oring forward. DP880s and DP901, Limiter slot filled, orings shimmed, pumptube sealed, Tapemod X115, bolt oring shimmed Forward. Me and my Threadtape.. i dont overpump. I take my break barrels out when i Know ill need more power and range. With a scope I get good shots to 30 in the DP880 and DP901 and took out a few feathers at 35yards. C362, C367 and Win1977 have good power range for being MultiPump Airgun.

@edinga what pellets are you having good luck with? What pump count?

Its called an FX Indy... or better yet. The Daystate Sportsman.
I haven't shot my Sportsman in a while, Mayble this weekend.

This ain't your fathers air gun.
-
Jayrotx821,
If you are asking about edinga about his C365 < .25 C362. I think he mentioned using Vortex Strike 24.7gr and 6 pumps for 12+ FPE.
Acapulco,
Thats a cool Airgun, im still trying to figure out what .22 PCP id like to get for Hunting. Ive got a short list together, but in the next month ill try to make a decision before theyre all out of stock. That some Nice wood and steel with a AO Scope and LDC you got there? Excellent work on the FX Indy,, or is that a Daystate Sportsman, Acapulco

-
Jay...
It's a Daystate Sportsman, side pumper. The FX indy had a plastic stock.
On your 22 pcp purchase...depends on the budget.
If i was in the market for a 1st pcp I would look into Daystate Huntsman (or Revere). Classic style with excellent build quality. Dont need for reg model..she's consistent w/o.
What are u lookin at ?
Good luck

theres been many other powerful pumpers like bobs millenium , but none ever went to production that im aware of //
a large 880 with metal pump handle would be awesome , maybe 25 cal or 30 cal

I'm working on a 25 cal Daisy (1977XS). I'm guessing it'll be in the 30FPE range at 20 pumps.

24" barrel? 17 FPE sounds great to me. I like building a gun versus buying a pre made.
