Title: Thinking XP .452 ACP Ranger
Post by: Nomadic Pirate on October 28, 2011, 04:24:44 AM
Didn't realise you could shoot this gun at 3000 psi, I'm now considering one.

Tell me what you think

If you are thinking about it, get on the list or buy second hand.  I've been waiting about seven months now.  Tom

Never seen a used one for sale.

Get one Manny.  BEST THING RUNNING!  Read the 20page review on that TAG that is linked on the XP-Airguns site.

They appear to be super-accurate with a wide variety of boolit weights, and get like 400+fpe on LOW power with a 3000psi fill with the 28inch barrel.  I don't know of another bigbore airgun that comes anywhere close to that on a 3000psi fill.  You can order it with a 22 inch barrel, too, which makes it weigh the same as a 909, with the same length.  Can't beat that with a stick.

Exactly Chris.

that is my train of reasoning too, at 3000 psi they have unmatched performance, and if in the future if I want the Bad Boy nastyness I have the option to fill more :)

Yeah but I allway figured those super guns only work on the 4000+ psi range, now that I read this is a 350-400 FPE gun with the 3000psi fill at low power my interest is definatly being awoken :)

Just being talking to Dan, and you can even shoot Medium power at 3000 psi, and getting way over 400 FPE,......this seems really a great versitale gun, I really think I order one he sais 10 weeks waiting list.

I'm going hunting this afternoon, so I'll have plenty time to sit and think about this one :) :) :)

Great looking package.....I'd love a .45

Found this note in small writing above the Camo'd .45   >:(  >:(  >:(

*Note we manufactured a limited number of Gargoyle air rifles, but ceased production.
We will service them, but will not offer new rifles for sale.

NP,
IMO, The XP-Ranger .45 Is the Most Powerful Rifle in its Caliber straight from the Builder and it has Solid Positive Feedback
from all who have bought one. The XP-Ranger will be the next .45 Caliber Rifle added to my Group of Big Bores. You will love
your new.45 Ranger, And it will serve you well. Great Choice.

                                                                                     Jetman.

I wish muzzleloading airguns were legal here in Oregon.....Xp Airguns "The Fifty-Eight" looks like a SWEET short-range Elk rifle.

Can't wait to see what the upcoming XP .72caliber is like!

Love the fact that if I want in the future I can swap barrels with 4 screws, I probably will get a .58 barrel one day :)

NP,
One of the key factors on my decision to purchase a .45 Caliber XP-Ranger is that I can change Barrel Length and or Caliber
Etc with four Screws in just Minutes, Just one of the Great Engineering details Dan has throughout the Ranger Rifle. Also the
Air Fill Pressure of 3000 -4500 PSI helps for the fact that I can fill up the Rifle with my Hill Hand Pump to 3000-3500 PSI and
then next year when I Purchase a Complete Air System from Joe Brancato and get the 4500 PSI / 100CF Plus Tank or Rent /
Buy a Welding 6000 PSI Nitrogen Tank. I am still in the assessment stage on the Type of Air System. You have yourself one
Amazing Big Bore Air Rifle that is second to none straight from the Manufacturing Facility, And with Epic Attention to Detail
Etc. Congratulations Again on your XP-Air Rifle. IMO ,You made the Best choice and will be shooting the Best for that Choice.

                                                                               Jetman.

I just sold my Corsair to get one of these. My buddy has one and can tell you it is everything you read about and then some. Easy to service and it hits with bad intention! The most versatile Big Bore on the market hands down. It also has impressive shot count for the power it makes. I can't wait myself. Good luck.

What FPS & FPE would you get with a 225 grain bullet at 3000 psi in a 36" .45 cal ? How many shots would you get with a 36 inch barrel, as the resevoir would be bigger also.Where have you seen all of the reports about it  you been talking about? Man I just discovered all of this PCP stuff in the last few months and it has my head spinning. I want a small cal. for squirrels now I want a big cal for fun and maybe deer or hogs. Might have to sell some of my PB.  Mark

There is a 20+page thread about the 28 inch barrel version of the XP Airguns .45Ranger on the TAG (Talon Airgun Forum).  If you compare his results to the info you find on the XP Airguns web-site it will give you an idea of what to expect.

Another guy over there has the 36inch barrel version of the .45Ranger, too.  Don't recall whether or not he has reported 3000psi results or not.
