i'm low on dough and want a FT gun. Got the Gen 2 Syn for just over $200.00 and free shipping so this is the animal I will be setting up. I don't have machines or skills so very limited on what I can make. The Hammer spring is not easy to play with, rather I am thinking smaller TP for 12-14 Ft Lbs with maybe a 8.4 pellet. Be awesome if someone made TP in different sizes like maybe 2mm and 2.5mm to play with. Eventually I will add a Reg of some sort but for now just want to play with TP sizes. I would enjoy any input or fun thoughts that you may have.

What class do you plan on shooting?
The biggest advice I could give is make sure you are having fun and not take it all that seriously. I see lots of new guys come into the sport and get slightly frustrated comparing their scores and gear to the guy next to them that has years of experience. They then burn the numbers off their credit card and get even more frustrated when the new gun and glass don’t get them a win.
I usually shoot either WFTF or open. Bumbag and a rifle. Most new shooter now shoot hunter.
To start I would not do much of anything until you shoot a match or two and see what direction you want to go in. Ask questions. Chances are somebody will take you under their wing and get you sorted.
As to your tp. You can always drill it out. If you don’t like it fill the hole with jbweld and drill it again.

I have transfer ports if you need that are tiny holed. You can just drill them out to what you want. email me at support@airgunarcheryfun.ca if you are interested.
Thanks,
Wes

Awesome thanks Wes I was going to email you actually. I will be shooting a very casual open class which is bucket and sticks and pretty much anything you want as long as you stay under 20 ft lbs. I should have said I have shot a couple matches over the years and hung around FT shooters and clubs for a long time. I'm 74 years old and not new to the sport. Not too far from my house they have an old guys shoot on weekdays that is very casual, not sure if they even keep score.

Steve,
Do ya still have your elite green Check rifle?

Did you read Hetors Blog about the storm and anoth about using one with a Diana barrel for field target...
Would love if they would sell some Diana Barrels for the Storm as an accessory... can bet it would sell and also boost Stormrider sales...
I know I want one for my Gen 1.. ;)

the barrels in them arnt that bad and lightly choked if at all, so slugs or heavies are a possibility if you wanted to slow it down, which i cant imagine why anyone would slow a gun down if ranges exceed 40y or so but hey, to each their own ...anyway, if you lack skills, get someone to hone the burrs out of the throat and tp, then get the muzzle faced off to remove the factory 'cone' crown and put a precision 30* about .050 crown on it and itl shoot ..

Yes thanks been following Hector on the Stormrider. I think he may get parts but will take some time to get Diana up to speed sometimes a year for stuff like that.

Reason to slow a gun down is more shots in the sweet spot for FT competition less filling during a match which can be 60 shots or more. 12 FT LBS is plenty of power for Field Target competition.
Also could use a good tear down video on the Stormrider. What previous Snow Peak rifles are the same internals as the Stormrider?

I do have a few barrels in stock, not many left again in 22 cal, but I've quite a few 177.
I also am selling the Stormrider in 25 cal with a mag and single shot tray and regulator.
Thanks,
Wes
