Post by: Ddgrego on October 27, 2011, 03:14:56 PM
Just bought this gun so should be here next week. The guy at the shop bought all the guys the gentleman had in his garage after he died over 800 guns and he has air guns in there also.they were all in the garage above the rafters.i have another one on layaway from him also. hes an easy guy to work with so heres his 2 links for the guns.they are all golden oldies if anyone interested,he has a few pistols i wouldnt mind having either.        http://www.gunsinternational.com/WILDWOOD-INC-guns-for-sale.cfm?show_account_listings=519 (http://www.gunsinternational.com/WILDWOOD-INC-guns-for-sale.cfm?show_account_listings=519)                 go to the second and third pages.    check out the 1930 - 1950 pistols on there Lizzie. makes my mouth water!

yes he has some priced too high and like he told me he has never dealt with airguns before as he purchased all the guns the gentleman had from his widow and so ill talk him down some and show him some prices on the web.i have a few being held for me to finish buying and today ill think ill look more at some of his older pistols to see what we can do.The Benji's wood is very good just not much paint.it also has a piece on it that's hard to see but will hold a scope.never quite have seen a piece like it before so don't know if its stock or an home made add on but its made of brass too, ps, i forgot about the tootsie role fore arms and how easy it is to smash you're finger if not carefull!!!!  lol

Got the rebuild kit for it on the way!Now just need to get it back to black.Ordered it from Bryan and asc and asked why the paint was so gone.not normal wear in just a few spots but all over gun.Answer was did it have a felt lined bag with it?i said yes and he said the bag was treated to prevent rust and said at the time they didn't realize it would eat the paint off slowly as other then paint and new seals this gun really has no wear even on stock. No nicks or scratches at all.So ill work it over and get her black again but the brass is a Little harder to make look right but ill get her done! Thought that was interesting on the bag as Ive never heard that before.Maybe some one here has but thought id put down what he told me.This was mainly for the older Benjis as they quit the bag later on and put any parts in a plastic bag after some time. This gun has been stored for a long time in box with the bag.Now its another waiting game for the parts! ugh i hate to wait!  lol

you are correct!t wasnt paint but a reaction type to a coating with the brass.black oxide process or black nickel. I have one in almost new condition that i dont take out much but wanted this one to go out and play so as not to worry to much about the finish.one of these years i may complete it properly but for now it was coated and baked on.it punches out pellets very well.Took me a couple times to get the nut inside tight enough to hold air and align up the valve correctly but shes good now.Might do it the right way this spring and post as i go
