Title: What's it worth?
Post by: uglymike on August 14, 2022, 09:13:22 AM
FUBAR. You all know the story, the history. I get cold chills every time I pick it up, not warm fuzzy. Original box and owners manual. What's it worth? When was the last time you saw an LGV Master Pro .177 for sale? Anywhere on the planet? For any price? Throw in it's fresh off Hectors bench....

Please, just give me a real world number $$. Don't need or want the comments, just a $ figure.

Mike - do you have any pics? Hard to give you any kind of number on it without seeing it.

If you say it came off of Hector's bench, he would be the best to evaluate it.

This sounds like an advertisement. I believe It belongs in the classified gate

Don't see anything wrong with a fellow member trying to get a ballpark idea of what fellow shooters think his gun might
be worth before he places an actual For Sale ad in the Classifieds.
Been done any number of times in the close to 7 years I've been here, but have to agree with Stinger. Talk to Hector and
have him give you an honest appraisal of worth, then post an ad.

Hector already gave me a figure. It's not like you ever see them for sale. Are these modern era LGVs even listed in the "Blue Book" since they're so rare? Get several people that want it bad enough...................?

It's worth what you are willing to sell it for and what someone else is willing to pay for it...
No more or no less.   ;)

Put it in the classifieds and put your 'want' number on it with an "OBO".
Put a time limit on it and 'let er rip tater chip'.

The only 2 listings in the Airgun Blue Book for an LGV with Master in the name. End of the day, any gun is only worth what
someone might be willing to pay for it no matter how rare it might be. History of your rifle is also spelled out here on the
forum and can't honestly say if that will help or hinder selling it.
Like Bill said, decide on a "want" price, add in OBO, advertise it and see what happens.

Appreciate the input folks. Steve thanks for the "look", it's not either. Those have open sights. Mine has a much different stock with factory adjustable butt pad.

The Book had some other LGV guns but none of them had Master or Pro in the name so I skipped by them.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Pic's Please?

Otherwise we have no idea. Word descriptions are not quite sufficient for an eval.

You are likely to get top dollar on ebay, through a bidding war.
However, most novices my not understand the value added through Hector's work.

I think you should sell it to purge your karma .....

I might be willing to trade you a premium stocked, ARH kitted Diana 34 for it but then again, if the 34 is too much gun for me,  that one may be also?

I still haven't seen any pic's.

Most people provide them if they want to sell something.

He is just trying to get ideas of the value. If he wanted to sell it and knew what he wanted for it he would list it in the classifieds and provide pics.
If you are interested in "the rest of the story" it's here..

Thanks Bill, that was certainly an interesting "rest of the story".

Walther was kinda turned into pariah with the advent of the LGV. People loved to find fault in the expensive, much-published guns that really were better designed and better performing, although not always better realized (early on), than the competition. Still the ONLY breakbarrel gun to take top spots in the FT circuit in modern times.

Now, 10 years later, the same people can be found lamenting the late, great LGV, that still shoot great, despite the critics' early fear-mongering of questionable design features.

"If it had been an Air Arms folks would still be wetting themselves over it.", as someone at airgunbbs this past spring opined.

I would grudgingly accept a bottom offer for a LGV Master Pro .177 cal at 300 USD. 400 would not be silly at all to ask, IMHO.

Sorry if was being a pest about pic's.

I much appreciate that link to Hectors story of the FUBAR.

Hector has in his hands a special project for me as we speak. That may become a story of its own, but I want to be the one who names the gun.  ???

I wasn't suggesting you were being a pest. Just trying to share some info.

Hasn't the HW98 also enjoyed that spotlight?

I know. I just felt like was being one.

I guess it's more that I want to see the gun. I have an LG55.

Thanks.
