Title: Have 16MM Diameter Weihrauch Barrels Changed?

Hey Guys,
Made a muzzle brake for a member's HW95L - Normally 16MM diameter + front sight grooves.
I've heard they now measure roughly .627" or less than 16mm = .6299" and that prior muzzle brakes needing pounding on with a dead blow hammer now fit loosely :P.

I have no reason to doubt this, but has anyone noticed variances on newer Weihrauch 16MM barrels?  I've been making these for many years and never seen or had this happen.  The gun was recently purchased from AOA.

I am no help, but I would imagine .003” would probably fall within a tolerance for an o.d., but without a print and tolerance call out?

What number are you trying to hit on your bore?  What can your lathe hold?  I like the idea of pound on Delrin brakes.  Are you adding a set screw or just interference fit?

Traditionally, they've pounded on very tight - nothing else holding them but barrel and front sight grooves.
Still wondering ....

Well get some callipers and measure the barrel diameter.  Kirk can then make it to fit perfectly. ;)

This may help.
HW95 moderator weighs 4.32 oz, 122.6 g, 1892 gr.  Moderator is 6” long and female threads start 1.7” in from beveled end of Moderator.  The thread is 3/4" long & 1/2" diameter with 20 threads per inch.

Somebody probably did master their micrometers correctly the day they made that barrel LOL!! ::)
