Title: HW45 rear sight screw keeps turning
Post by: Sollermun on July 27, 2022, 07:40:00 PM
I'm having an issue with the screw that adjusts elevation on my HW45 turning on its own. I assume it's from the recoil.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I noticed the same issue on an old Beeman P17, which had the same mechanism for the rear sight. The rear sight elevation is held up by a spring, and it doesn't take much force to depress the rear sight and the screw to turn.

It really would be better to replace the rear sight with something like a Williams rear sight. I would be willing to look at aftermarket sights if such exist.

Otherwise, really happy with the pistol. It's a ton of fun to shoot. Saw someone else on this site describe it as a 1911 that's been flattened with a meat tenderizer. Cosmetically, it would be nicer if the "slide" was not so tall. The handle could also use some extra weight for balance.
