I've been told that both FX and Air Arms pellets are made by JSB. I've also read that AA pellets come from different molds, apparently owned by AA.
But I'm not sure if FX has the same "exclusive" mold deals as AA does.
Does anyone know if JSB makes FX pellets using FX owned molds or are they just rebranded JSB pellets?
-
My HW97K prefers the Air Arms 8.4 gr 4.52mm pellet but those are bringing a premium price. My 97 has tighter groups at 30 yds with the AA pellets than with the JSB 8.44. I have not tried the FX pellets but if they are just rebranded JSB there is no need for me to purchase those.
-
At least according to a video posted of a JSB tour, the owner said in that video they just designate a mold for AA's and another
for the FX branded pellets. I'll have to see if I can find that video again.
As for prices, someone next door at AGN said they emailed AA to ask about the major rise in pellet prices to be told that JSB
had raised pricing to AA for making them and while they wished they didn't have to, they had no choice but to pass that cost
on to their customers. The rest is on PA and other retailers for how they decided to price them once received.

Or...you can just ask me.
AA basically has it's own mold. All other rebranded JSB pellets are just that, rebranded JSB pellets.

As long as Air Arms pellets shoot better than JSB I will keep buying AA :)
-
In my springers,HW30 and 95, the AA shoot better than the JSB.
The jury is still out on my AA S500. I have only shot AA 16gr and 18 gr. If the 18 shoot as well as the 16 I will see no need to try others.
I do have an unopened tin of FX 18 gr that I will eventually try.

Watch this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AAQzSkRZVg&t=2289s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AAQzSkRZVg&t=2289s) ) and you will gather the answer that JSB is willing to share. My understanding is that some companies (FX for one) has JSB manufacture pellets with their own dies, while other companies just rebrand the JSB pellets. It seems to be something of an insider secret.

Thanks, Joe. Was hoping you'd see this and chime in. As much as several of my rifles like the AA's, the big spike in prices for them
has me off trying/testing others to find a new favorite pellet for them.

Same here Steve. When I bought the HW97K from Greg he told me he had good luck using AA 7.87 gr pellets with it. I tried some and he was correct, I also tried the AA 8.4 gr and had great results with those as well.
You were the ones who located the AA pellets on ebay that I have now. I haven't shot anything but AA pellets in the HW97K but I only have two tins of each of those left. If I can't find the AAs at a lower price I'll be searching for a new "favorite".

The AA Falcons in .22 my 95 likes went from $18.99 a tin the last time I bought some to now $25.99 a tin. The H&N FTT 5.54 head pellets
shoot a very close 2nd to them and only $15.99 a tin so now the new favorite and I'll start trying others to find a 2nd and 3rd.

You know I answered this already. Look up at my post. FX are rebranded JSB pellets.
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle...

I'm formally asking " YOU ".. ;)
What ever happened to the " LEAD - FREE SLUGS " project...?
I viewed a " YOU TUBE VIDEO ", but have yet to see or find any further information ... :(
Lead-free slugs????? MADNESS!!!!!
Jan 24, 2020 What would you all say to me if I told you Predator/JSB were bringing a lead-free slug to market? You'd call me crazy. You all would publicly stone me. Well hold on to your stones and hang up on the nut house, cause here they are...
I can't seem to post the " You Tube Link "... :-\
-
I've also formally requested & posted in the Thread : SLUG / SOLID / BULLETS ; " LEAD- FREE SLUGS ", which might be the more appropriate thread for further discussion..?

When COVID got "popular " JSB of course wasn't immune. They got hit and if one person tested positive, then the whole crew in that department were put on a 2 week quarantine. Of course, they had to deal with outside sources (drivers, the docks, suppliers, etc.) getting sick and that didn't help.
So, things were postponed, the lead-free slugs being one. They had other items that were more important like the .30 and .35 Hades and the KnockOut Slugs. JSB hasn't done much more with lead-free slugs. They may look harder at them for next year. Especially with the way the EU is looking to ban lead.
I hope this helps.

Since we are asking questions here. . . . Can anyone shed any light on the upcoming FX Halo ammunition? How is the testing progressing? Ideas about proposed delivery schedules to vendors? Ideas as to proposed pricing?
-
Typical FX merchandising. They introduce a new product and you don't hear anything else about it until it's available. Who knows what they'll be available. I'm sure the retailers will let everyone know when they get them.
