Think the cheapest/beater pup out there is the Beeman under lever 1358

I’ve seen them. Seem ok for $250 from aoa. I think they come with a scope too. I never like taking the expensive stash when out in the field so it’s nice to have a beater on hand

I have the puncher breaker and a synthetic flashpup both in 22. I like the feel of the kral a little better. Its wood stocked so that might be part of it. They both shoot really well. I've added a biathlon lever to my kral. The kral is an enshrouded barrel but I run a sumo to keep it quiet.  The hatsan is a little cheaper especially if you gat a refurb. Both guns shoot cheap crosman premiers well. This is a hard choice.

If the Puncher has some of the same Engineering and design as the Empire line,  and I think it does...I don't think you can go wrong with it.

I just bought a Kral Empire XS.  This little thing is a great little gun for the cost.  Even more..!  Great trigger (adjustable), as good or better than many more expensive guns, fairly quiet, VERY short, comfortable at the shoulder, accurate as most.

It's become one of my favorite guns in the short time that I've owned it.  That includes, RTI's, FX's, Daystate's, etc..!

That is the reason I just bought a Beeman 1358 !

Wanted a smaller gun, that put cheap 14-15gr pellets out in the 735+fps range and could get about 35+ shots. I want a nice 35-40 yrd Ground Squirrel & Pigeon gun.

I think with tuning the 1358 will do that.

I've got a .25 synthetic Flashpup. Mine has the bolt action and it shoots great with AA 25.4s. It'll do under 1.5 inches at 100 yards easily. It's not small or lightweight though.

A bit of tinkering goes a long way. Nothing really to buy unless you want quieter and a few more mags.
Unscrew the shroud and screw on a moderator.
Gauntlet mags work...  ;)

I like my P35s.  They are under $500 each and weight a little over 5 lbs before you put on a scope.  I think the rear cocking P15 is a little cheaper and it's only about 4.4 lbs before scope.  P35 is center cocking and plastic stock.  P15 is rear cocking and wood stock.

My P35s use metal for pieces that are plastic on my Avenger.  I still like my Avenger but the P35 construction seems more robust.  Both shoot well.

Might seem weird to say it, but your EdGuns will probably out-"durable" anything else in your quiver.  I'll put our Lelya up against any other bullpup for durable and capable of handling the rough-stuff.  I'm talking harsh up-n-down and mud/woods/rocks WV-style hiking.  I'll put my trust in the stuff I can use as a melee weapon :D  Our EdGuns meet that requirement.

Of course, a good carry bag is important.  Piotr from Poland has several threads regarding his gear- very much worth checking out.

I was thinking along the same lines as Peter, but not specifically down the EdGun path (although that is a great suggestion) . . .

Bottom line, you are looking for a bullpup to use more like a tool than as a "fancy/pretty/desirable" item.  And a "tool" is a great example - you never hear of anybody having "beater" and "heirloom" socket wrenches.  They are meant to be used and are expected to show wear over time from that process.

With that in mind, I would suggest determining the best bullpup for your from a use standpoint - accuracy, weight, and especially durability - and then since you know yours will get seriously banged up and suffer "lost cosmetic value" as a result of that, buy used (preferably with some visible damage already for more of a discount).  After all, why pay for new and visually perfect when you know you will seriously visually damage yours anyways . . . .

Some don't like buying used, but I love it.  Most of my airguns have me as the second owner - it is a great way to get a lot more for your money, but it does take a bit more research (and patience) to get what you want that way . . . for example, it took me almost a year to find the right used Daystate Air Ranger for me once I decided to get one (saving almost half the price buying used), but six years on I still have it probably always will.

That said, I bet a good used EdGun would be awesome for your needs . . . .

I never thought I would buy and FX in any flavor.  Last week there was a good buy on an FX Wildcat MK I in the classifieds.  All the new is worn off of it but it's in good mechanical condition, and stacking pellets at 20-25 yds. The distance to my bait station.  With the Hugget moderator that came on it, it's so quiet I thought it was broke when I first shot it. ;D  I checked to see if there were video's on how to dis assemble it and decided to buy it.

I buy new, I just drive em til the wheels fall off. ;D  Haven't bought one since 2006, but it's time to get rid of one of the 3 F250's and get something cheaper to drive. :o

I like the "drive it till the wheels fall off" strategy . . . but I still prefer to buy them used - that way somebody else pays ~50% of the cost of the vehicle to use the first ~20% of the useful life.  It's not as a good a deal as with airguns (~50% of the cost for the first 5% or less of the useful life), but it is still a great deal.
