Title: 760 help
Post by: RCO on July 12, 2022, 05:15:32 PM
I was given a model 760 self cocking rifle. It matches this manual I found at https://support.crosman.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/201589920/C760SC-EVP___PL.pdf  It is marked with serial number starting 575. So it must be June 75. Stock is plastic and pump arm is wood. The barrel strap is metal.

1. Can I buy a barrel? Mine has been cut.

2. The valve is flat top, can I buy a piston seal?

It is marked Power master instead of pump mater and has the rectangle B B door

575 would make it May '75. Date code on the barrel band end cap until July '75. The long-rifled barrels are very scarce these days. But the smooth bore barrels are more commonly found. You have to get the seal kit for the flat top gas valve assembly. Rifle cocks when pumped the first time. With metal receiver makes it a Powermaster, but the later variant. Plastic receiver is the Pumpmaster. It should still have the brass bolt?

Thank you so much for all the help.

Ya, I knew it was May not June. I just made a mistake.

Now that I see the Mac piston I can machine one on my lathe. I've got all the pieces except the plastic piece and O ring.

Yes the bolt is brass and the receiver is metal

You can contact Mike Baker at peter_built78@hotmail.com for old Crosman parts. He has a lot of them, some NOS. Or Baker Airguns. Mac1 has parts and seal kits too. eBay is another place to find parts.

I got the old seal working. It still needs replacing, it is weak but I now know the valve is working and so is the trigger. So it pumps and shoots.

I can check to see if its worth buying a barrel. I'm not into the little plastic pumpers but it would be fun for indoors shooting. The metal receiver would let me use something other than the open sights because of my poor eyes.
